Brockport loses close one to Potsdam

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team hosted Potsdam on Saturday for Military Appreciation Night. Brockport gave up a pair of third period goals, falling to the Bears, 2-1, at home.

Andrew Harley scored the team's only goal of the contest, his 11th of the season. Connor Galloway was credited with the assist on the play, his 15th of the year. Galloway extends his point streak to seven games for the Green and Gold.

Both teams had opportunities in the first, but the score would remain at 0-0 after the opening period.
 
The Golden Eagles struck first with a goal in the second period. At 4:23 into the second, Andrew Harley sent the puck into the bottom left quadrant of the goal, assisted by Connor Galloway. This would give the squad a 1-0 lead midway through the contest.
 
Brockport entered the third still up by one goal. However, Potsdam would tie the score at 1-1, 8:47 into the final period. The visiting Bears would complete the comeback with the game-winning goal with just 1:31 left in regulation.

Looking for an extra skater in the final moments, Brockport pulled the goalie with 47 seconds left. Unable to find the equalizer, the match ended with a 2-1 score in Potsdam's favor.

Nolan Egbert spent 59:13 in between the pipes tonight making 39 total saves and allowing two goals. The Golden Eagles are now 8-12 overall and 3-8 in the conference.

Brockport falls to Plattsburgh

Friday night at home, Brockport lost to the Plattsburgh State Cardinals, 4-1. The loss puts Brockport at 8-11 overall and 3-7 in the SUNYAC.
 
With his goal in the contest, Connor Galloway extends his streak to five consecutive games with a score. He now has eight on the year, while Manny Sanchez's assist is his eighth of the year.
 
Early on in the first period, Plattsburgh struck first to get on the scoreboard. The visiting team from up north scored just 2:22 into the game to go up 1-0. With no other scores in the period, Brockport trailed by one going into the second.
 
4:58 into the second period, Connor Galloway tied the score up at 1-1 with a goal for the Green and Gold. Galloway was assisted by Manny Sanchez on the play. However, the Cardinals would answer not long after with a power play goal to retake a 2-1 lead.
 
Brockport entered the third period down one, but the deficit would soon grow. Just 1:22 into the final period, Plattsburgh's Bennett Stockdale netted his second of the game. Before the final horn the Cardinals would add one more to their total, completing the 4-1 victory over the Green and Gold.
 
Nolan Egbert came up with several big saves in net, totaling 41 stops in a full 60 minutes of action. His counterpart, Eli Shiller, made 25 saves for Plattsburgh.

Honoring Colonel Daniel Fletcher


Saturday's Military Appreciation Game honors Colonel Daniel Fletcher who has served the United States Army for over 35 years of Active duty, the New York National Guard, and Army Reserves.


Colonel Fletcher has serviced in various positions throughout the Armor and Infantry communities. After commissioning, Colonel Fletcher served as an Armor Officer in the National Guard before switching to the Army Reserves as a Civil Affairs Officer.

Colonel Fletcher is currently assigned to the 304th Civil Affairs Brigade in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Colonel Fletcher has had numerous operational deployments in the United States, Europe, and Afghanistan.

Not only does he serve our country through the military but also serves as the Recruitment Operations Officer for the Brockport Army ROTC for almost 14 years. He has assisted in placing over one hundred junior officers into the United States Army through this position all while completing his obligated duties to the Army Reserves.

Brockport to host Plattsburgh and Potsdam this weekend

The SUNY Brockport Men's Ice Hockey team will be hosting two big SUNYAC Match up's this weekend at the Wegmans Ice Arena in Brockport, New York. On Friday, January 27th the men will be hosting Plattsburgh state for a 7pm puck drop. The Following night the men will be hosting SUNY Potsdam for their Military Appreciation Jersey game at 4pm, where they will honor our Military and showcase their special edition camo jerseys to be Auctioned off.
 
Military Jersey Auction: The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team will host their Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, January 28th against Potsdam at 4 p.m. The Golden Eagles will wear special camouflage uniforms for the contest. The game worn jerseys will be available for purchase via silent auction from Thursday, January 26th through Wednesday, February 1st until 12:00 p.m. (EASTERN).

In the YAC: After an exciting weekend for Andrew Harley and Connor Galloway, both earning their 50th career points, they are tied for first place amongst the SUNYAC for most points (21).
 
Harley is tied for fourth in the SUNYAC for most goals, with ten this season. Galloway leads the conference with assists with fourteen. 
 
Alex Monteleone has a plus minus rating of +12, which is tied for seventh in the SUNYAC.
 
Aidan Curry is ranked fourth in the conference for his save percentage of .926%. Nolan Egbert is ranked 10thwith a percentage of .890%.
 
Looking at the Cardinals: Plattsburgh State will enter Friday Night's match 13-4-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the SUNYAC. They have a recorded a total of 67 goals this season and 755 shots overall and average 3.5 goals a game. Their leading scorers are Bennett Stockdale with eleven goals and Jack Ring with seven. 

Between the pipes for the Cardinals are Eli Shiller, Jacob Hearne and Kyle Alaverdy. Shiller has spent 635:00 minutes in goal making 236 saves, giving up 13 goals giving him a save percentage of .958%. Hearne has spent a total of 384:20 on ice, making 160 saves, allowing 13 goals and giving him a save percentage of .925%. Alaverdy has spent 120:29 minutes in the net, making 41 saves, allowing 6 goals, giving him a save percentage of .872%.
 
Looking at the Bears: SUNY Potsdam is 4-14-1 overall and 2-8 heading into Saturday's competition. The team has recorded a total of 50 goals and 556 shots overall this season. They average 2.6 goals a game. Their leading scorers are Ryan Mahlmeister with six goals and Drew Rose with five.
 
Between the pipes for the bears are John Werber, Connor Green and Stephaen Friedland. Wreber has seen 62:13 minutes of playing time this season, making 43 saves and allowing five goals, giving him a save percentage of .896%. Green has seen 716:45 minutes on the ice, making 423 saves and allowing 53 goals, giving him a save percentage of .889%. Friedland has spent 363:30 in goal, making 183 saves, allowing 26 goals, giving him a percentage of .876%.

Egbert is SUNYAC Goalie of the Week


On Monday, Brockport's Nolan Egbert was selected as the SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week.
 
Last week Egbert went 2-0 as the starter in net for Brockport, taking wins against Morrisville and Canton. He played the full 60 minutes of both contests, helping the team to a 2-1 week.
 
In the mid-week game against Morrisville at home, Nolan came up with 41 saves and allowed two goals. He earned a .953 saves percentage in the match, as the Green and Gold earned the 3-2 win.
 
Then in his next start at home against Canton, Egbert made 25 saves and allowed two more goals. He registered a saves percentage of .926 in the game, as Brockport marched through Canton for the 6-2 win.

Brockport wins big on Willie Bee Night




The SUNY Brockport's Men's Ice Hockey Team defeated SUNY Canton at home Saturday night, 6-2, after celebrating the Willie Bee Foundation.
 
Brockport got off to a hot start after losing to Canton last night in overtime, 3-2. Jake Mendeszoon wasted no time with a top shelf goal at 4:27 in the first, assisted by Connor Galloway and Andrew Harley.
 
The second period was a big one for the Golden Eagles. Scott Ramaekers scored at 7:16 in the second while Brockport was shorthanded. Ramaekers was assisted by Jordan Rosenbaum and Chris Aarons.
 
Matt Anastasio kept it rolling with a goal at 8:34 in the second, assisted once again by Harley and Galloway.
 
Six seconds after leaving the penalty box, Chris Aarons hit the ice ready to play. He scored at 12:51 in the second, assisted by the dynamic duo of Andrew Harley and Connor Galloway.

The Green and Gold held a comfortable 4-0 lead at the end of the second. Galloway started third with an unassisted goal at 1:05. His goal was another short handed score for Brockport in the game, as the team went up 5-0.

Moments later, Manny Sanchez scored his first collegiate goal at 1:41 in the third. He was assisted by Harley and Galloway yet again.

After tonight's performance, both Andrew Harley and Connor Galloway each have earned their 50th career point. 
 
Canton struck back with two goals to finish out the third period, but it was not enough. Brockport dominated at home for the win, 6-2, improving to 8-10 overall for the season.

Nolan Egbert spent 60 minutes between the pipes battling it out, making 25 saves and allowing two goals.
 

Brockport loses in OT to Canton

On Friday night, the SUNY Brockport ice hockey team lost an overtime battle on the road to SUNY Canton, 3-2. Brockport is now 7-10 overall on the season following the loss.
 
Both Andrew Harley and Connor Galloway recorded one goal and one assist in the contest. Teammates Alex Monteleone and Josh Grund both registered assists for the Golden Eagles on the road.
 
At 4:59 into the first period, Canton struck first blood to take an early 1-0 lead over the Green and Gold. With no other goals in the period, Brockport trailed by just one going into the second.
 
Connor Galloway capitalized on a power play opportunity in the second to tie the score up at 1-1. Galloway netted his sixth goal of the season and has now scored in three straight games. Andew Harley and Josh Grund were credited with assists.
 
Nearly three minutes later, the hosting Roos found the back of the net again to regain their lead, 2-1. After both teams got on the board in the second period, Canton entered the third with the advantage.
 
Already with one point in the game off an assist, Andrew Harley got back involved in the action with the game-tying goal in the third period. Once again off of a power play, Harley tied the game up at 2-2, assisted by Connor Galloway and Alex Monteleone.
 
With neither team scoring again in regulation after Harley's goal, the match was headed for overtime. 2:52 into the overtime period, Canton's Sam Martin ended the game with the game-winning goal for the Roos.
 
Aidan Curry went the full game in net for Brockport, making his seventh start of the season between the pipes. He made 34 total saves and gave up three goals on the night.

Jersey auction



The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team will host their first annual Willie Bee Foundation Jersey Night on Saturday, January 21st against SUNY Canton at 5p.m. The Golden Eagles will dawn special edition uniforms throughout the contest as a tribute to the Willie Bee Foundation. The game worn jerseys will be available for purchase via silent auction from Feb. 7 through Wednesday, February 19th until 12:00 p.m. (EASTERN).  

The Willie Bee Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization founded in August of 2017 to benefit local families who have a child facing a life-threatening illness. The Willie Bee Foundation was founded in memory of Will, who lost his life after a courageous battle with AT/RT, an aggressive brain tumor just a few weeks shy of his second birthday. "We look to ease the burden that families who have a child with a life-threatening illness face, we have realized that how we ease that burden looks different for every family we have the honor and privilege of doing something for. We listen to our families and assist where they can benefit most. We also aim to help families make memories."

Filak commits to Brockport




Brockport has secured the commitment of goalie David Filak who is currently playing with the Boston Junior Rangers of the EHL.

Throughout the juniors he has put up jaw-dropping numbers:

Last season, with the Atlanta Mad Hatters, he had a .937 save percentage and 2.33 goals against average.

This season, for Boston, he has a .944 and 1.80 stat line.

Brockport tames the Mustangs

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team moves to 7-9 overall and 3-6 after an important, 3-2, win over Morrisville on Wednesday night.
 
Connor Galloway struck first again, being the first to put points on the board with Brockport's first goal at 17:49 into the first period. Galloway was assisted by teammates Andrew Harley and Josh Grund. Brockport ended the first period with a 1-0 lead.

Early in the second Morrisville's Will Jones was sent to the box for slashing, putting Brockport on a power play. Harley capitalized on the opportunity finding the back of the net at 2:25 into the second period, assisted by Galloway and Grund.
 
Twelve minutes later Josh Higgins sent the puck across ice to Chris Aarons at 14:02 in the second, allowing him to lock up Brockport's third and final goal of the night. With 39 seconds left in the second, the visiting Mustangs got themselves on the board to make it a 3-1 game after two.
 
Morrisville scored the final goal at 17:05 in the third. Originally not scored a goal during live play, the officials discussed the play and awarded Morrisville a goal to make it a 3-2 game with less than three minutes to play. The Golden Eagles held off the comeback attempt down the stretch to hang on for the win.

Nolan Egbert spent a full 60 minutes between the pipes, making 41 saves and allowing two goals.

Maxwell nets 2 SUNYAC honors



Chase Maxwell
from the Brockport ice hockey team was named the SUNYAC Hockey Athlete and Rookie of the Week on Monday.
 
After being a vital part of Brockport's offense Tuesday against Fredonia, Maxwell recorded his first four-point game of his collegiate career against Franklin Pierce.
 
The team defeated Franklin Pierce, 8-4, improving to 6-9 overall after beating Fredonia, 4-2, earlier in the week.
 
Maxwell scored a goal in the both the second and third period, as well as assisting in the second and third. After the week Maxwell is up +5 and Brockport has won back-to-back games.

Brockport beats Franklin Pierce

The SUNY Brockport Men's Ice Hockey team move to 6-9 overall this season after a dominant 8-4 win over Franklin Pierce University.
 
Connor Galloway wasted no time, finding the back of the net 32 seconds into the game. Manny Sanchez won the first face off, sending the puck across the ice to Andrew Harley who sauced it to Galloway to lock it away. 
 
At 4:16 in the first, Harley scored Brockport's second goal of the night. Galloway and Cam Barbagallo were credited with assists. Franklin Pierce clapped back with a goal at 11:10.
 
Harley put away his second goal of the night late in the first period, assisted by Galloway and Sanchez. The Golden Eagles entered the first intermission up ,3-1.
 
Chase Maxwell put the fourth goal on the board for Brockport at 5:19 into the second. He was assisted by Ryan Brow and Adam Beauvais on the score that put the squad up, 4-1.
 
Josh Grund scored the fifth goal of the night later in the second period assisted by Beauvais and Maxwell.
 
Brockport's sixth goal of the night slid behind the goalie's skate at 19:41 in the second. Matt Anastasio was the goal scorer, assisted by Chris Aarons and Sanchez. The team led, 6-1, heading into the final period.

Maxwell scored once again for the Golden Eagles in the third period, assisted by Beauvais and Grund, about a minute in. Franklin Pierce capitalized on their second power play opportunity of the day, with a goal to make it a 7-2 game.

Grund scored Brockport's eighth and final goal of the night at 8:49 in the third, assisted by Maxwell and Barbagallo.
 
Franklin Pierce scored twice more in the third, but did not have enough time to mount a comeback. The Green and Gold leave New Hampshire with the 8-4 victory.

Dylan Wiemer was between the pipes for 60 minutes tonight, making a total of 20 saves to earn the first collegiate victory of his career.

Brockport wins non-conference game against conference opponent

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team beat Fredonia State, 4-2, on Tuesday night in a non-conference match up at Steele Hall. Brockport improved to 5-9 overall and Fredonia drops to 2-10 on the season.
 
The Blue Devils struck first at 8:14 in the first period to go up 1-0. Nine minutes later Zach Norby sent the puck across the ice to Scott Ramaekers who scored the first Golden Eagle goal. The Green and Gold tied the score up at 1-1 going into the second.

After a scoreless second period, Scott Ramaekers scored his second goal of the night to start the action in the third. 5:13 into the period Ramaekers was assisted by Dominic Chirico and Zach Norby to put Brockport on top, 2-1.
 
Fredonia fought back, scoring at 10:49 in the third to tie the score back up at 2-2. Josh Grund scored a minute later, assisted by Adam Beauvais, to put the Golden Eagles up 3-2.

Alex Monteleone pocketed Brockport's final goal of the night at 18:22 into the third. He was assisted by Andrew Harley and Cam Barbagallo on the insurance goal that gave the squad the 4-2 win.

Aidan Curry spent 60 minutes between the pipes for the Green and Gold making a total of 41 saves and allowing two goals.

Brockport falls to Nichols

The SUNY Brockport Men's Ice Hockey team fell 2-5 Sunday afternoon at Warrior Ice Arena in Boston Massachusetts to Nichols College in the Championship Game of the Boston Landing Invitational.
 
Brockport struck first with a goal at 8:46 in the first. Andrew Harley sent it into the back of the net unassisted. 
 
With seven seconds left in the first Luke Harvie, from Nichols College scored, sending the men into the first intermission 1-1.
 
At 12:04 into the second Josh Grund sent a puck across the goal line, scoring Brockport's second goal of the night. Grund was assisted by teammate Jacob Rodrigue.
 
Nichols scored two more goals in the second period.
 
The third period started 2-3 Nichols, before they scored their final two goals to secure the win.
 
Nolan Egbert spent 60 minutes between the pipes, allowing five goals and making 28 saves.

Brockport beats LVC, 4-2

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team traveled to Boston, MA to compete in the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational. On Saturday the team beat Lebanon Valley, 4-2, in the first round.
 
Coming out of the gates hot was Jacob Rodrigue to put the first points on the board with a goal. Rodrigue was assisted by teammates Adam Beauvais and Jordan Rosenbaum at 15:03 in the first period. Lebanon was unable to retaliate due to Brockport having possession for majority of the period.
 

Holding onto a 1-0 lead at the end of the first, the Golden Eagles would add to that in the next period. Early in the second Jake Mendeszoon wanted in on the fun, sending the puck into the back of the net at 2:23. He was assisted by teammate Chris Aarons, as the team went up 2-0 after two periods.
 
In the third, Lebanon quickly came back with two goals. The first was by Jared Stevenson at 6:53 in the third, followed by a goal by Brad Viola at 16:11. Chase Maxwell was quick to clap back with a goal just 15 seconds after Lebanon Valley's score, assisted by Adam Beauvais.

At 1:01 Lebanon pulled goalie Ty Franchi. Andrew Harley had possession and pocketed the last goal of the night on an empty net. Brockport would close out the game at Warriors Ice Arena for the 4-2 win to improve to 4-8 overall.
 
Nolan Egbert spent 60 minutes in the goal tonight, making 28 saves and allowing two goals.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back at Warrior Ice Arena for a 5:40 game against Nichols College for the Boston Landing Invitational Championship on Sunday.

Brockport heads to Boston for tournament

 The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team will be shipping up to Boston this weekend to play at the Warrior Ice Arena in Boston, MA, for the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational. The team will play two games this weekend, the first being against Lebanon Valley on Saturday, January 7th at 5:40pm. The winner of that game will play the winner of Nichols or Rivier Sunday.

Last Game Recap: The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team hosted the third annual Teddy Bear Toss Game on Friday, December 9th in front of a crowd of 1,800 fans. Brockport fell to SUNY Geneseo, 4-1, at the Wegmans Ice Arena, dropping to 3-8 overall and 2-6 in the SUNYAC.

This year it was Alex Monteleone who scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal, 17:58 into the second period. Monteleone was assisted by Scott Ramaekers and Sam Dibitetto for the power play score that sent a full crowd's worth of stuffed animals onto the ice. The stuffed animals were collected following the cleanup after the goal to be donated to local charities for the holiday season.

In the first period, the Geneseo Knights scored to get on the board first 10:20 into the game. They would add a second goal just 57 seconds into the second period. Another score gave Geneseo a, 3-0, lead nearing the midpoint of the second.

At 16:21 into the second period, Geneseo's Alex Wilkins was sent to the box for two minutes  sent the puck to teammate Sam Dibitetto who shot it across the ice to Alex Monteleone. Monteleone picked his spot with the puck, beating the opposing goalie in top left corner to send the teddy bears flying onto the ice.

Already leading, 3-1, in the third period, the visiting Knights added one more goal. They kept the Green and Gold from finding the back of the net the rest of the way, resulting in the 4-1 final.

Looking at Lebanon: The Dutchmen are 2-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the UCHC going into this tournament weekend. The team has recorded a total of 302 shots and 22 goals this season. They average two goals a game and their leading scorers are Brad Viola and Jared Stevenson.
 
Between the pipes are Ty Franchi, Gabriel Pigeon and Cole Bradley. Franchi has spent 482:57 minutes in the goal this season, allowing 28 goals and making 310 saves giving him a save percentage of .917%.
 
Looking at Nichols: The Bisons are 4-7 overall and 2-7 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. They have recorded a total of 316 shots and 38 goals this season, averaging 3.5 goals a game. Their leading scorers are Sophomore Nathan Carl with six goals and Dylan McMahon with five.
 
Guarding the net for Nichols are Tyler Bost, Mathias Backstorm, Korbinian Lutz, and Anthony Bonaldi. Bost has spent 212:29 in the goal this season making a total of 157 saves and allowing 14 goals. Backstrom has seen 178:54 minutes on the ice, made 84 saves and has allowed eight goals giving him a save percentage of .913%.  Lutz has spent 177:31 in the net making 123 saves allowing 13 goals, giving him a percentage of .904%. Bonaldi has spent 88:12 minutes on the ice making 40 saves and allowing seven goals giving him a save percentage of .851%.
 
Looking at Rivier: The Raiders have an overall record of 5-7-1 overall and 0-0 in conference play. Their top scorers are Avery Arnold with six goals and Jack Tos, Jon Tavella and Kurt Watson with four. 
 
Between the pipes are Will Augustine, Luke Newell and Andrew LoRusso. Augustine has seen 139:49 minutes in goal making 71 saves, allowing 8 goals, giving him a percentage of .899%. Newell has spent 429:32 in the goal making 182 saves, allowing 18 goals, giving him a save percentage of .910%. LoRusso has spent 216:47 minutes on the ice, recording 91 saves, allowing 11 goals giving him a percentage of .892%.
