LUKER SIGNS WITH RIVERKINGS
Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations announced that the team has signed rookie defenseman Chris Luker. Terms and conditions were not released.
Luker, 24, joins the RiverKings after a four-year career at SUNY-Brockport. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound blueliner finished his senior season sixth on the team in points with 17 (4G, 13A), second-most amongst defenseman. The New Hartford, New York native appeared in 100 games during his collegiate career, recording 19 goals and 47 assists.
"Chris is a big, solid offensive defenseman who is coming off of a really good college career," said Landmesser. "I am looking forward to seeing him here in Mississippi as he makes the transition to the pro game."
"I've heard nothing but good things about the RiverKings organization," said Luker. "The RiverKings were one of the first teams that reached out to me and I'm excited about coming to this storied franchise."
The RiverKings begin their 25th anniversary season on Friday, October 21 when they take on the expansion Evansville Thunderbolts at 7:30 p.m. at the Landers Center in Southaven. The RiverKings are supported by community partners, season ticket holders, fans, and grants from Maddox Foundation, an independent private foundation based in Hernando, Miss.
