The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team traveled to Boston, MA to
compete in the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational. On Saturday the
team beat Lebanon Valley, 4-2, in the first round.
Coming out of the gates hot was Jacob Rodrigue to put the first points on the board with a goal. Rodrigue was assisted by teammates Adam Beauvais and Jordan Rosenbaum at 15:03 in the first period. Lebanon was unable to retaliate due to Brockport having possession for majority of the period.
Holding onto a 1-0 lead at the end of the first, the Golden Eagles would add to that in the next period. Early in the second Jake Mendeszoon wanted in on the fun, sending the puck into the back of the net at 2:23. He was assisted by teammate Chris Aarons, as the team went up 2-0 after two periods.
In the third, Lebanon quickly came back with two goals. The first was by
Jared Stevenson at 6:53 in the third, followed by a goal by Brad
Viola at 16:11. Chase Maxwell was quick to clap back with a goal just 15 seconds after Lebanon Valley's score, assisted by Adam Beauvais.
At 1:01 Lebanon pulled goalie Ty Franchi. Andrew Harley had
possession and pocketed the last goal of the night on an empty net.
Brockport would close out the game at Warriors Ice Arena for the 4-2 win
to improve to 4-8 overall.
Nolan Egbert spent 60 minutes in the goal tonight, making 28 saves and allowing two goals.
The Golden Eagles will be back at Warrior Ice Arena for a 5:40 game
against Nichols College for the Boston Landing Invitational Championship
on Sunday.
