Teddy Bear Toss this Friday

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team (6-5-2, 13-7-2) will hold its second WHITE OUT & TEDDY BEAR TOSS game on Friday, February 11th against visiting Buffalo State (2-10, 4-16) before traveling to Fredonia State (5-7, 7-9-1) on Saturday, February 12th for a pair of SUNYAC Contests.
 
White Out & Teddy Bear Toss:
Brockport's Student Athlete-Advisory Committee (SAAC) is presenting Ice Hockey's Second Teddy Bear Toss for Friday night's game. By wearing white and bringing a teddy bear or new stuffed animal to Friday night's game you'll gain FREE admission to the game. Along with FREE admission, following the Golden Eagles first goal of the game, throw your stuffed animal out onto the ice which will be collected by members of SAAC and donated to the Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
 
SUNYAC Standings
With only three games remaining in the regular season Brockport clinched a spot in this year's SUNYAC Tournament after Oswego State defeated Morrisville State on Wednesday night by a score of 4-0. This is the seventh time in eight seasons that the Golden Eagles have made an appearance in the SUNYAC Tournament.

Last Week Recap:
The Golden Eagle's went 1-1-1 this past week after defeating Morrisville State (2-10), (7-12-2), falling to #11 Oswego State (11-2-1), (16-5-1) and tying SUNY Cortland (6-5-2), (11-9-2).
 
Defense is the key to Offense:
Graduate Student Defenseman Ryan Romeo currently ranks in the Top 50 in all three offensive categories in the nation this season as one of the best to play his position. Romeo currently has 11 goals, 23 assist and 34 points this season. According to www.uscho.com he is tied for the fifth best player in the country a crossed Division III Hockey with his 34 points. His 23 assists this year ranks him tied for second in the country, his 11 goals ties for 46th with his four power play goals tying him for 32nd most in the nation.
 
Rookie Sensations:
The line of Sophomores Andrew Harley and Connor Galloway along with Freshman Jacob King have been the top producing line as the three of them have combined this season for a total 31 goals, 47 assists and 78 points. All in their first season playing college hockey, Harley (13-16-29) ranks tied for 17th in the nations scoring leaders with his 29 points. his 13 goals tie him for 22nd in the country while his 16 assists tie him for 32nd in the country. Galloway (8-17-25) is tied for 41st in the country with 25 points and tied for 27th in assists this season with 17.
Jacob King (10-14-24) ranks tied for 48th in the States with 25 points on 10 goals, tied for 58th in the country, and his14 assists ties him for 62nd.
 
Goaltenders:
The duo of senior goaltender Nolan Egbert (10-5-1) and junior Aidan Curry (3-2-1) have been a dynamic pairing in net for the Golden Eagles. This Season Egbert has spent 962:04 in net starting in all 17 games he's appeared in; the goaltender has acquired an incredible 2.37 goals against average allowing 38 goals saving 434 shots on goals for a save percentage of .919%. Egbert has also recorded two shutout games this season. Appearing in six games this season, Curry has totaled 353:03 in net allowing 11 goals and averaging 1.87 goals allowed per game. He's made 144 total saves with a save percentage of .929%.
 
Looking at Buffalo State:
Nikita Kozyrev is the Bengals points leaders this season recording 15 points on 10 assists and 5 goals. With Kozyrev tied for third on the team in goals and leading in assists. Joel Free is Buffalo States leading goal scorer with eight goals, three assists and 11 points this year. Emil Norrman (2-12) has appeared in 17 games this season for a total 901:07 minutes allowing 50 goals and averaging 3:33 goals and a save percentage of .913 this year. the last time these two teams faced off on December 3rd, 2021, The SUNY Brockport ice hockey team defeated the Buffalo State Bengals by a score of 6-1. In total, six different golden eagles managed to record goals while 10 players picked up assists in the 6-1 victory.
 
Looking at Fredonia State:
For the Blue Devils, Matt Letmanski leads the team in points with 11 on two goals and a team leading nine assists. Gregg Lee and Kurri Woodford both lead Fredonia's offense with five goals each. Logan Dyck (7-8), the Blue Devils goaltender, has spent 842:16 in goal starting in all 15 games he's played in allowing 42 goals for a goal against average of 2.99 goals per game and a save percentage of .922%. the last time these two teams played, Brockport defeated Fredonia by a score of 4-1 on December 4th, 2021. Four different Golden Eagles scored in the game including Ryan Romeo, Connor Galloway, Anthony Hora and Andrew Harley. Jacob King and Kevin Mainello record assists while Harley picked up two assists to go along with his goal. Ryan Romeo was able to contribute to all four goals in the game as he tallied three assists with his one goal.
 
After this weekends Whiteout & Teddy Bear Toss on Friday night and the team's final road game of the season, the Golden Eagles will host its local conference rival #2 SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, February 19th at 7 p.m. in the Tuttle North Ice Arena.

Brockport ties Cortland

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team now 13-9-2 overall and 6-5-2 in conference play earn itself a point in the SUNYAC Standing after tying SUNY Cortland (11-9-2, 6-5-2) in a thrilling SUNYAC showdown on Saturday.
 
Scoring Recap
Three Golden Eagles scored in tonight's game with Mitchell Parsons, Andrew Harley and Anthony Hora all scoring one goal in each period. Zach Norby, Casey Winn, Trevor Pray and Jacob King each had one assist while Ryan Romeo added two assists to his team-high 34 points season.
 
1st Period
The Golden Eagle fell behind 3-0 to the Red Dragons only 8:17 into the first period of the game. The Golden Eagles slowly made their comeback effort as Mitchell Parsons scored Brockport's first of the game 12-minutes into the period on a power-play opportunity. Assisting Parsons on his 10th goal of the season were Zach Norby and Casey Winn.
 
2nd Period
Trailing 3-1 through the second period, Brockport brought the deficit to one 16:02 into the period with sophomore sensation Andrew Harley recording his 29th point this year on a goal assisted by Trevor Pray and Ryan Romeo.
 
3rd Period
Trailing by one throughout the whole period, the Golden Eagles almost had a chance to tie up the game with 18-seconds remaining. Off the next faceoff, won by Jacob King, the Golden Eagles scored as Anthony Hora hit a one timer from the top of the point off a pass from Ryan Romeo. Hora's one timer snuck passed Cortland's goaltender to send the game into overtime. Along with Romeo, Jacob King assisted the Golden Eagles on the game tying goal.
 
Overtime
Both Brockport and Cortland each received power-play opportunities following one another as each team had a chance to win in 4-3 free hockey. With no team able to capitalize the game would end in a tie 3-3 as each team would earn 1 point toward its SUNYAC standings rank.
 
Goaltending
Trailing by three goals, Aiden Curry was sent into the game as Brockport's netminder at the 8:17 mark of the first period. With Curry in net, Brockport did not allow a single goal as he shut out the Red Dragons the remainder of the game. Curry recorded a total of 17 shots against Cortland's Luca Durante who played the full 65-minutes in net making 45 saves and allowing three goals.
 
Faceoffs
The Golden Eagles won 32-of-58 Faceoffs for a 0.551 winning faceoff percentage. Jacob King won 16 of his 25 faceoffs with Scott Ramaekers winning 5 of his seven faceoffs. Kevin Mainello and Michael Meredith each went .500 in the circle as Mainello won 3-of-6 faceoffs and Meredith 2-of-4 of his.

Oswego hands Brockport a big loss

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team traveled to #13 Oswego State Friday night to battle the Lakers where they fell by a score of 7-3.
 
Scoring Summery
Andrew Harley, Mitchell Parsons, and Jacob King scored the three goals while Connor Galloway recorded an assist on two of them. Also picking up assists in the game were Trevor Pray and Kevin Mainello
 
1st Period
Lots of action occurred during the first period as a total of seven goals were scored between Brockport and Oswego. The Lakers fired the first shot in the Battle of Lake Ontario scoring 3:32 into the first period of play. The Golden Eagles returned fire though scoring the next two goals. First for Brockport, Andrew Harley managed to find the back of the net 6:40 into the period with an assist from Connor Galloway and Kevin Mainello. At the 8:39 mark, Mitchell Parsons then scored for the Golden Eagles to take their own lead of the game off an assist from Trevor Pray. The Lakers would then put up three unanswered goals before Jacob King decreased Oswego's led to one off an assist by Connor Galloway.
 
2nd Period
Following the seven goal first period, Brockport was unable to find the back of the net in the second. Oswego State scored two goals to increase its lead to 6-3 heading into the third period of play. The Lakers goals came at 4:37 at 15:16 into the period.
 
3rd period
The Golden Eagles were unable to score in the third period as Oswego State put the puck in the back of the net one last time late in the game to give the Lakers a 7-3 victory over the Golden Eagles
 
Nolan Egbert spent all 60-minutes in goal for the Golden Eagles making a career high 45 saves against the Lakers. Steven Kozikoski was Oswego States goaltender for the game making 24 saves while allowing three goals
 
Stats
Brockport won 39 of 75 faceoffs in the game as Jacob King won 15 of 26 total faceoffs and Kevin Mainello winning 8 of 15 of his. Corey Tam lead the team in blocked shots blocking 3 with Scott Ramaekers and Casey Winn blocking two each. In total the Golden Eagles recorded a total of 13 blocked shots against Oswego's three.
 

Brockport wins rare Wednesday affair

 The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team (13-6-1, 6-4-1) traveled to Morrisville (7-11-1, 2-9) on Wednesday night for a SUNYAC contest where the Golden Eagles won 5-2 and are headed home with three points.
 
Robert Flannery, Andrew Harley, Casey Winn, Mitchell Parsons and Scott Ramaekers all scored goals for the Golden Eagles in the game with Ramaekers, Chris Aarons, Jacob King, Trevor Pray, Corey Tam and Jake Mendeszoon all recording an assist.
 
1st Period
Both teams defense would start off strong as neither side would allow a single goal as Brockport's Goaltender Nolan Egbert (10-3-1) saved six shots in the scoreless period. For the Mustangs Garrett Boyonoski (3-5) saved 10 shots in the period.
 
 2nd Period
Brockport's Robert Flannery would record the first goal in the game 4:11 into the second period off an assist from Chris Aarons. With the Mustangs down by one they would record two goals with two minutes of Flannery's goal to put Morrisville up 2-1 over Brockport. The two goals would be the only ones for Morrisville as Harley would keep his point streak alive scoring 12:15 into the second period off an assist from Jacob King. Harley's goal would keep his five game point streak alive and tie the game up heading into the final period of regulation at 2-2.
 
3rd Period
The Golden Eagles would wait long taking the lead 2:02 into the third period off a goal from defensemen Casey Winn to give Brockport the 3-2 lead. Winn's goal came off assists from Scott Ramaekers and Trevor Pray. 10:34 into the period Mitchell Parsons would make Brockport's lead a little more comfortable recording the Green and Gold's fourth goal of the game with an assist from Co-Captain Corey Tam. With Brockport leading 4-2 they gained an insurance goal from Scott Ramaekers with an assist from Jake Mendeszoon as the final goal of the game to give Brockport the victory with the final score being 5-2.
 
Goaltenders
Nolan Egbert earned his tenth career win in goal as a Golden Eagle following tonight's win. the goaltender made 19 saves playing all 60-minutes in the teams win. meanwhile Garret Boyonski recorded his fifth loss for Morrisville this year making a total of 27 saves and allowing five goals.
 
Faceoffs
Jacob King won 9-of-17 of his faceoffs while Kevin Mainello was dominant in the circle winning 8-of-10 of his faceoffs against the Mustangs.

What's Next
The Golden Eagles will be on the road this Friday to take on #13 Oswego State (14-4-1, 9-1-1) at the Deborah F. Stanley Arena & Convocation Center in Oswego, NY. Brockport falls to Plattsburgh

 The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team (12-6-1, 5-4-1) traveled to face Plattsburgh State (11-7-3, 7-4-1) on Saturday night where the Golden Eagles fell 4-3 to its SUNYAC opponent.
 
Summery
Ryan Romeo Scored two goals for Brockport adding to his incredible season giving him 32 total points all year on 11 goals and 21 assists. Connor Galloway also record two points on a goal and assists with Andrew Harley getting his two points this game off of two assists.
 
1st Period
Plattsburgh started out the game by scoring three unanswered goals against the Green and Gold within the first 10-minutes of the game before Ryan Romeo would score his 10th goal of the season with Andrew Harley and Connor Galloway assisting him. Before the period ended the Cardinals would record another goal leading Brockport 4-1 heading into the first intermission.
 
2nd Period
Brockport's defense stepped up in the second period not allowing a goal and helped the Golden Eagle's get one back. 5:36 into the period, Connor Galloway scored the only goal of the period to make the game 4-2. Putting Brockport back in the game the goal was assisted by Andrew Harley, his second of the night.
 
3rd Period
Not allowing a goal for the last two periods, Brockport would hold the Cardinals to four goals. 18:39 into the last period, Romeo would record his second goal and the Golden Eagles final goal of the game leaving the final score Plattsburgh 4, Brockport 3.
 
Goalkeeping
Brockport managed to block a total of 10 shots while Nolan Egbert saved for 26 shots on net. Jacob Hearne recorded a total of 13 saves while allowing two goals.

The Golden Eagles will next travel to Morrisville on Wednesday, February 2nd for a 7 pm puck drop before traveling to Oswego on Friday, February 4th and hosting Cortland on Saturday, February 5th at the Tuttle North Ice Arena in Brockport, NY.

Potsdam ties Brockport 2-2

 The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team (12-5-1, 5-3-1) traveled to the North Country on Friday night where they took on the Potsdam Bears (2-14-1, 1-9-1).
 
 Following a hard fought game between both teams the result ended in a 2-2 tie following 60-minutes of regulation and a scoreless overtime period. Andrew Harley and Anthony Hora scored both goals for the Green and Gold with Ryan Romeo and Jacob King recording an assist each in the game.
 
First Period
Following strong defensive performances from both team, Potsdam managed to score the only goal of the period off a scrum in front of Brockport's net at 16:07 into the first period. With the Bears scoring the only goal of the first, they would go into the first intermission with a lead of 1-0 over the Golden Eagles.
 
2nd Period
Andrew Harley started off this weekend right where he left off from lasts scoring the Golden Eagles first goal of the game off an assist from Ryan Romeo 3:54 into the second period. The Golden Eagles would try to take the lead, but the bears scored late into the second at the 12:38 mark to take the 2-1 lead heading into the final period of regulation.
 
3rd Period
Trailing 2-1 in the third period, Anthony Hora would come in clutch for the team as following some dirty dekes and dangles he would tie the game with 3:07 remaining in the third period to make the game 2-2. Assisting Hora on his goal was Jacob King
 
Overtime
With both teams playing their first overtime period, the Golden Eagles and Bears put up many shots on net. Following a scoreless period, the game would result in both teams first tie this year.
 
Career Highlights
Romeo recorded his 80th career point and 30th of the season. For a career Romeo has 25 goals and 55 assists. This season alone he's posted 9 goals and 21 assists. Sophomore Andrew Harley now bumps up his season total in points to 23 on 10 goals and 13 assists. Defender Anthony Hora recorded his 13th point this season on 3 goals and 10 assists.
 
Faceoffs
Brockport came up big on the faceoffs winning 45 of 70 faceoffs. Jacob King won a career high 20 faceoffs tonight's while only losing 5. Kevin Mainello was perfect on the puck drops winning all eight of his faceoffs tonight's. Tying up on faceoffs for the Golden Eagles were Chris Aarons and Mitchell Parsons who each won seven faceoffs against the Potsdam.
 
Goaltenders
Nolan Egbert was the Golden Eagles netminder tonight saving 19 shots as Brockport's defense barely allowed him to face a shot. The opposite went for Potsdam defense as they allowed a total of 54 shots on their goaltenders Connor Green who saved 52-of-54 shots tonight.
 
Brockport will next travel to Plattsburgh State (10-7-3, 6-4-1) tomorrow night to take on the Cardinals at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburgh, NY. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7pm.

Romeo and Harley get weekly SUNYAC awards

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has picked Brockport's Ryan Romeo and Brockport's Andrew Harley as this week's PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Athlete and Rookie of the Week in a release from the conference office Monday afternoon.
 
Ryan Romeo
Brockport's Ryan Romeo has now earned his third Prestosport Athlete of the Week Award this season. The Graduate Student Co-Captain from Fairport, NY recorded a total of four points on one goal and three assists against the SUNY Canton Kangaroo's this weekend. Playing the Roo's twice, on Friday nights 7-2 victory, Romeo recorded one goal and two assists while earning a plus/minus of +4 in the game. The Following night in Brockport's 3-1 win over SUNY Canton, Romeo tallied one assist with a plus/minus of +1 giving him a total of +5 for the weekend. This season, Romeo is currently ranked fourth in the nation amongst all skater in points (29), third in assists (20) tied for 18th in power-play goals and tied for 38th in the nation in goals (9) along with teammates Andrew Harley and Jacob King.
 
 
Andrew Harley
Harley earns his second Prestosports Men's Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week Award following the Golden Eagles weekend sweep of the SUNY Canton Kangaroo's. In Friday's first matchup against the Roo's, Harley put on a show in front of the home crowd as the sophomore and Brockport, N.Y. native recorded a single-game career high total of four points scoring two goals and recording two assists. Harley's second goal of the game came off a Brockport power-play and would be listed as the winning goal in the 7-2 blowout victory over SUNY Canton. The following night Harley on the road, Harley still managed to record three points in the 3-1 victory contributing a part in each of Brockport's goals. Harley's three points came off two goals and one assist. His first goal would go down as the game winner for the second night in a row with his second goal came on an empty net. He finished the weekend with a total of seven points from four goals and two assists with a plus/minus of +4 while recording one power-play goal, one empty net goal and two game winners. Harley is now ranked tied for 16th in the nation in points (23), tied for 18th in the nation in assists (14) and tied for 38th in the nation in goals (9).

Brockport beats Canton 3-1

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team traveled to SUNY Canton and beat the Kangaroos 3-1 claiming the weekend series sweep after having previously defeated Canton last night 7-2.
 
Andrew Harley recorded two goals and one assist in the game one night after scoring two goals and two assists against the Kangaroos. Defenseman Casey Winn also scored for the Golden Eagles in the teams 3-1 victory. Connor Galloway picked up two assists tonight while Anthony Hora, Ryan Romeo and Jacob King picked one assist in the game.
 
1st Period:
Brockport defenseman Casey Winn scored the first goal of the game one-minute into the period. Assisting Winn were Galloway and Harley. With the score 1-0, SUNY Canton bounced back 17-minutes into the period to even up the game 1-1.
 
3rd Period:
Following a scoreless second period, the Golden Eagles took the lead when Andrew Harley scored to give Brockport the 2-1 lead 11:59 into the final period.  Harley's goal came shorthanded with assists from the defensive line of Ryan Romeo and Anthony Hora. With under a minute remaining in the game Harley recorded his second goal of the night on an empty netter with assists from Connor Galloway and Jacob King. Following the empty netter, time expired as Brockport came out victorious with the 3-1 win.
 
Goaltending:
Junior Aiden Curry was in net for the Golden Eagle's making 19 saves against 20 shots on goal en route to his third win this season. Pierce Diamond recorded the L for SUNY Canton as he allowed two goals against 14 shots. With Curry's win tonight puts him at .500 for a Wins-to-Loss ratio this season.
 
Notable Stats:
With Andrew Harleys three points tonight and four last night, he finishes the weekend with seven points on four goals and three assists. Harley ranks third in the conference in points (27) and assists (13) as per SUNYACsports.com. With Romeo's assist in the game, he has now reached 20 assists, nine goals for 29 points this season. Romeo is the #1 defenseman in the country in points and #2 in the nation in assists according to USCHO.com
 
Looking Forward:
The men will return to SUNYAC action next weekend when they'll travel to the north country of New York where they'll face off against SUNY Potsdam on Friday, Jan 28th at 7 pm. Following the game against the Bears, the Golden Eagles will head to Plattsburgh State to matchup in a big SUNYAC standings matchup with the Cardinals. That game is set to begin at 7pm.

Brockport beats Canton 7-2

 The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team defeated the SUNY Canton Kangaroo's in a non-conference game by a score of 7-2 Friday night at the Tuttle North Ice Arena in Brockport, NY.
 
Six different Golden Eagle's scored in the game as seven of Brockport's skaters recorded assists. Tallying two goals for Brockport was the hometown native Andrew Harley who scored two goals in the game including the game winner off a power-play and also recorded two assists picking up four total points, a career high for the freshman. Ryan Romeo and Connor Galloway each recorded three points as both scored one goal while recording an assist. Romeo's three points now gives him 28 points this year on 9 goals and 19 assists. Anthony Hora picked up two points on one goal and one assist while Jacob King and Zach Norby recorded two points in the game on two assists. Scott Ramaekers and Sam DiBitetto picked up one point as each skater scored one goal while Chris Aarons and Mitchell Parsons also recorded one point off assists against the Kangaroo's.
 
 
Scoring Summery
 
1st Period: Ryan Romeo started off the Golden Eagle's offense tonight as the graduate assistant co-captain scored the first goal of the game 13:17 into the very first period of play off an assist from Norby. Three minutes later Harley found the back of the net for his first goal of the game as King and Hora provided the assists.
 
2nd Period: Starting the second period off with a 2-0 lead, Brockport would let up its first goal of the game as the Rochester native Matt Passaretti scored SUNY Canton's goal 6:33 into the second period of play. If you give a goal up you've got to get one back and that's just what Harley did for the Golden Eagle's scoring less than a minute as he followed up on the Kangaroo's goal 7:23 into the second period off a power-play opportunity putting the Golden Eagles up 3-1. Harley's second goal of the night came off assists from Galloway and Romeo. At the 12:03 mark of the period, Galloway would get his first goal, as it was Harley with an assist this time around with help from King. With Galloway's goal, it would give Brockport a 4-1 lead. 15:20 into the period, the Kangaroo's would score again making things a little closer as the they would now trail 4-2. At 18:17 Sam Dibitetto would extend the Green and Golds lead to three getting the puck into the back of the net with a little help from Parson's and Romeo.
 
3rd Period: leading 5-2, the Golden Eagles would continue adding on points as Ramaekers goal came 4:24 into the final period of play with Norby and Aarons getting's assists on the goal. Hora would score the final goal of the game with 11:09 remaining in the period off a power-play opportunity. Assisting Hora on the goal were Galloway and Harley. In the end the Golden Eagle's picked up the 7-2 Victory over SUNY Canton.
 
Penalties: The biggest stat line of the night came from the penalty chart as a total of 67 penalty minutes were handed out between both teams with SUNY Canton picking up 14 of the 24 penalties handed out including one 10-minute misconduct and a 5-minute major for cross checking resulting in the team's second 10-minute misconduct of the night.
 
Power-Play Summary: The Golden Eagle's continued to draw power-play opportunities as their four chances tonight gives them a conference high 89 total power-play opportunities. Going 2-for-4 on power-play chances against SUNY Canton, Brockport now has 22 power-play goals this season, another conference high. Brockport's penalty killing was just as strong tonight as the penalty kill managed to go 3-for-3 not allowing a single goal off any of SUNY Canton's power-play opportunities. Between both teams a total of 12 penalties were called for roughing, seven for SUNY Canton and five for the Golden Eagles.
 
Goaltenders: Nolan Egbert was back in goal for the Golden Eagles as one of the top goaltenders in Division III shut down the Kangaroo's allowing two goals against 28 shots. Egbert currently has 1.68 goals against average this season, a Brockport all-time low with a .940 save percentage this season. He currently is one win away from 10 wins in net this season posting a 9-3 record having spent nearly 715-minutes total in net for Brockport this season. For SUNY Canton Filip Schlyter drops to 1-4 in net for the Kangaroo's allowing seven goals while making 33 saves tonight.
 
Faceoffs: Brockport won 40 of 68 total faceoffs tonight. Jacob King won 10 of his 17 total faceoffs with Parsons winning 11 of his 19 while Chris Aarons won 9 of 12 of his faceoffs.
 
The Golden Eagle's will next travel to SUNY Canton on January 22nd to face off against the Kangaroo's as Brockport will try to take the weekend series sweep. Puckdrop is scheduled for 7pm.

Brockport beats LVC

 The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team (10-5,5-3) picked up its 10th win of the season with a victory over Lebanon Valley (2-11,1-7)  Saturday afternoon.
 
The Golden Eagles defeated the Flying Dutchmen by a score of 3-1. Jake Colosanti, Connor Galloway, and Mitchell Parsons were each responsible for a Golden Eagles goal throughout the game. Colosanti, Anthony Hora and Sam Dibitetto each recorded an assist as Ryan Romeo picked up two assists against the Flying Dutchmen. Romeo's two assists gives him a total of 17 this season, tied for first amongst all skaters in the nation.
 
Game Recap: The Golden Eagles struck first in the game as Colosanti recorded his fifth goal this season 15:26 into the first period of play. The goal came on a Brockport power-play with senior Sam DiBitetto assisting him for the goal.
 
In the second period, with Brockport a man down, and Lebanon Valley on the power-play the Flying Dutchman scored their first and only goal in the game to even things up 1-1.
 
With the score even at 1-1 heading into the final period of play, thanks to another Lebanon Valley penalty, Connor Galloway scored on the Brockport power-play 12:34 into the third period. Ryan Romeo picked up his first assist in the game as Anthony Hora picked tallied an assist as his shot deflected off Galloways stick and into the back of the net to give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead. Mitchell Parsons then scored in what would be the only even strength goal all game with Ryan Romeo and Jake Colosanti tallying their second points in the game giving the Green and Gold a 3-1 victory over the Blue and White.
 
Penalty Play: A total of eight penalties were handed out throughout the game. Lebanon Valley went on the penalty kill five times throughout including a five-minute major game misconduct.The Golden Eagles went 2-for-3 on their penalty kill opportunities. Brockport's five power-play opportunities now gives them a SUNYAC leading 84 all season.
 
Netminders: Nolan Egbert returned in net for the Golden Eagles making 23 saves against 24 shots playing the full 60-minutes in net. Aidam Richardson was a brickwall for the Flying Dutchman as the Pittsford, NY native returned to the 585 recording a total of 49 saves against 52 total shots.
 
SUNYAC Leaders: Egberts play for the Golden Eagles has been one for the books as he ranks second in the SUNYAC in goals against average (1.65), save percentage (.941) and win percentage (.727). With Romeo's 17 assists, he ranks first in the SUNYAC while his eight goals this season ranks him second in the conference in points with 25.
 
On To The Next: The Golden Eagles will resume SUNYAC play this Wednesday when they'll travel to Morrisville to take on the Mustangs at 7pm.

Brockport to host LVC

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team is set to host visiting Lebanon Valley this Saturday, January 15th at 2 p.m. in the Tuttle North Ice Arena.
 
Weekend Recap: The Golden Eagles (9-5) recently defeated visiting Stevenson (9-4-1) on Saturday by a score of 5-1. Brockport's Zach Norby, Ryan Romeo and Sam Dibitetto all recorded a goal in the game with freshman Jacob King scoring twice in the contest. Aidan Curry was Brockport netminder against the Mustangs as he managed to play nearly 60-minutes of shutout hockey to pick up his second win of the season. Curry's play came as the result of saving a career high 35 total shots.
 
So far this season the Golden Eagles currently rank first in the SUNYAC in power-play opportunities (79), 14 more than any other team in the conference. Of their power-play opportunities, the Golden Eagles have capitalized with a power-play goal 21.5% of the time.
 
Individual National Rankings: Team Co-Captain Ryan Romeo has been playing as one of the best defenders this season not only in the conference, but in the nation across division III men's ice hockey. Through 14 games this season, Romeo is currently ranked first amongst defenders in points (23), tied for first amongst defenders in assists (15) and ranked second in the country amongst all skaters with his 23 points. As for his career, Romeo currently sits at 73 career points and is two shy away from ¾ of 100 points. Sitting where he is now in goals and points, he ended the 2019-2020 season with six goals and 10 assists and has already surpassed his previous seasons stats with 11 games remaining in the season. Other top points leaders in the nation from Brockport include freshman Jacob King who is tied for 21st (9-9-18) and freshman Andrew Harley who is tied for 38th (5-11-16).
 
Brockport has been backed up by phenomenal goaltending as Nolan Egbert ranks tied fourth in the nation in shutouts (2), ninth in the nation in save percentage (0.940%), 12th in the nation in goals against average (1.72%) and 21st in the nation in minutes played (594.21).
 
Looking at Lebanon Valley: The Flying Dutchmen are currently 2-9 overall and 1-7 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC). Lebanon Valley's most recent game was played back on December 10th against Elmira College where they lost 10-0. Prior to traveling to Brockport on Saturday, the Flying Dutchman will faceoff against No.2 SUNY Geneseo Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. leading the team's offense in points is Blake Testo who's recorded 13 points on a team leading seven goals and six assists. Leading the team in assists this season is Alex Borowiec with 10. Gabriel Pigeon has spent the most time in net for Lebanon Valley appearing in nine games recording a total of 369.05 minutes allowing 28 goals and making 169 saves. He has a goals against average of 4.55% and save percentage of .858%.
 
Following Events: Following this weekend's game, The Golden Eagles will resume SUNYAC play where they will travel to Morrisville State on Wednesday, January 19th for a 7 p.m. puck drop.

Brockport starts off 2022 in style

 The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagle's men's ice hockey team returned home for the first time this year picking up a big victory over visiting Stevenson University.
 
The Golden Eagle's (9-5) defeated the Mustangs (9-4-1) by a score of 5-1. Brockport's Zach Norby, Ryan Romeo and Sam Dibitetto all recorded a goal in the game with freshman Jacob King scoring twice in today's contest.
 
The first goal of the game was recorded by Norby who was assisted on the play by teammates Connor Galloway and Jacob King. The goal came off a Brockport power-play at 15:43 to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 heading into the second period of play.
 
As they have all season, Brockport tallied its most goals of the game in the second period. So far, of the 55 total goals that Brockport has scored all season, 25 have come during the second period of play with 10 goals recorded in the first period and 20 coming in the third.
 
To start off Brockport's second period scoring drive, the co-captain Ryan Romeo tallied his SUNYAC conference leading 23 points this season off a goal. Assisting him on the play were Connor Galloway and Zach Norby. The Golden Eagle's third goal of the game came at 15:35 into the second period with King picking up his first goal off assists from Jake Colosanti and Anthony Hora putting Brockport up 3-0. Giving the Green and Gold another point on the board was Sam Dibitetto who scored 17-minutes into the second period off a power-play goal as Jacob Rodrigue and co-captain Corey Tam tallied assists.  The Golden Eagle's final goal of the night was King's second of the game at 18:17 in the second with assists by Zach Norby and Ryan Romeo to help give Brockport a 5-0 lead heading into the third period.
 
Stevenson wouldn't go away empty handed as the Mustangs put up a goal 16:35 into the third period resulting in the final score of the game to end in a 5-1 Golden Eagles victory.
 
Jacob King's two goals in the game now puts him tied for third place in the conference in total goals (9). With an assist in the game, it puts him ranked third in the conference in points (18). Ryan Romeo still ranks as the SUNYAC's assists and points leader as his assists in today came gives him 15 on the season, four more than any other SUNYAC player. Romeo's goal, which gave him a total of two points to finish today's game puts him at 23 total points so far this season. Romeo and King's presence on the ice has been impactful for the Green and Gold as the graduate student, Romeo, is tied amongst conference leaders in plus/minus (+17) while the freshman, King, sits alone in fourth place (+12).
 
Aidan Curry was Brockport netminder today as he managed to play nearly 60-minutes of shutout hockey to pick up his second win of the season. Curry's play came as the result of saving a career high 35 total shots.
 
Ryan Kenny recorded the loss for the Mustang's in today's game allowing four goals in 37-minutes of action before being replaced by backup goaltender Marko Sturma. Kenny recorded 23 saves while Sturma picked up 14 saves during his time in goal.
 
Stevenson gained the edge over the Golden Eagle's in faceoffs as the Mustangs won 31 of 56. King lead all skaters for both teams in today's game in faceoff's win as he managed to takeaway 13 of 21 faceoffs he appeared in.
 
One of the biggest stats Stevenson had for today's game was the amount of penalty minutes they aquired taking a total of 11 penalties in the game compared to Brockport's six penalties. Brockport took advantage of Stevenson's penalties as the Golden Eagles went 3-6 on power play opportunities while Stevenson couldn't capitalize on any of their three power-play opportunites.
 
Brockport will return home next Saturday, January 15th when they will make up its postponed game from January 8th against Lebanon Valley in the Tuttle North Ice Arena at 4pm.

Celebrating two of the best

 

With the second half of the season here, it’s time to give a shoutout to two guys having absolutely magical seasons – Ryan Romeo and Nolan Egbert. Keep an eye on these guys this semester, appreciate every play they make. They are literally among the best in all of DIII.

It was thought that defenseman Ryan Romeo deserved serious consideration for All-American status in the season prior to the pandemic. The First Team All-SUNYAC selection had 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points. This year, he’s a shoe-in for national honors: He has a 7-14-21 line in just 13 games. He’s on pace for a 40-point season. Let that sink in. 40 points is a great season for a forward. For a blueliner, it’s an all-world season. That dynamic playmaking ability in no way dulls his primary duties of keeping the other teams’ best players in check. His plus/minus is +15, he’s blocked 8 shots, and he has just 8 penalty minutes.

I’ve been watching DIII hockey for a really, really long time, and I’ve always thought the best defenseman I ever saw was Nick Rolls, who played for Plattsburgh from 2005-2006 to 2008-2009. He was brilliant, the flow of the game itself went through him. Romeo is that kind of special talent. He’s an impactful player who is worth the price of admission and will belong on Brockport’s Mount Rushmore of hockey.

Why is Brockport consistently ranked among the top twenty teams in DIII this season? Look no further than Nolan Egbert. His brilliance in goal allows the team to do what they want, to take chances, to adjust their style of play of the competition, to make changes on the fly because he gives them the confidence to be able to dominate and win every game. With him behind you, there’s always a chance.

Somehow, he’s quietly having a season for the ages. His save percentage is .940 and his goals-against-average is 1.72. The team’s single-season records for those categories has been held by Jake Moore, at .925 and 1.93. He’s a great goalie to watch, too – he has textbook mechanics and cunning yet he can also make the stunning stop that’s worthy of television highlight reels.

Egbert can steal a game and he’s the key to getting the team to – and beyond – the SUNYAC championship game. He’s up for the task, too, the young man has preternatural calm behind the mask.

New fans, longtime fans, all of you…savor this semester and what these guys are doing. You’ll never forget what you’re seeing.

LVC game put on hold

Lebanon Valley's games against Brockport and Geneseo have been postponed. While Friday's match is a no-go, Brockport will still, at this time, face Stevenson on Saturday.

Chirico commits to Brockport

Dominic Chirico of the Connecticut Chiefs has committed to SUNY Brockport for the fall of 2022. 

The ’01 native of Overland Park, KS is in his final season of his junior hockey career in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

“Dom has been a great leader for us this season,” said Chiefs head coach and general manager Greg Heffernan. “From the first time we spoke this summer, I knew Dom was going to be able to achieve his goal of playing NCAA hockey. His versatility and high compete level are second only to his incredible character.  I’ve known coach Dickinson for a long time, and I know Dom is going to fit in perfectly at Brockport”

This is Chirico’s second season in the EHL.  Last year, he managed put up 26 points in just 42 games as a defenseman.  This year Dom returned to the Chiefs in the role of team captain to lead the Chiefs and bolster the D-core.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to join the Golden Eagles and play at SUNY Brockport for the next 4 years. Brockport has a beautiful campus and great academic options for me to pursue my goals.  I would like to thank my family and friends for sticking by my side throughout my whole hockey career.  I would also like to specifically thank Coach Heffernan for all his help in this process. One of the big things as a team that we have been focusing on under his leadership is sticking to our style of team hockey and individual success will follow.  This commitment is not only for me but for every other guy in our locker room that shows up every day working to win a championship and more importantly, developing to get to the next level.” – Dominic Chirico 

“We have a very deliberate model here centered around player development and exposure” said Heffernan of his program. “Dom has bought into the process and earned his commitment to a great NCAA program. I suspect that many of his teammates will be following in his footsteps soon.” 

After sending 10 players to the NCAA last season, Chirico has managed to captain a young Chiefs team into sole possession of 2nd place in the EHL central division heading into the Christmas break.

Grund commits to Brockport

How's this for a Christmas present? Josh Grund has committed to Brockport. The slick forward is a point-a-game guy. This season in the EHL he's played 22 games for the Walpole Express where he had a 8-12-25 stat line and 28 games for the Boston Jr. Rangers where he's had a 11-18-29 line.

#1 Geneseo beats Brockport

 The SUNY Brockport men's hockey team held the nation's top team to just one goal in the first two periods and rallied with a third period goal from Trevor Pray, but the comeback bid fell short as No. 1 Geneseo topped the visiting Golden Eagles 3-1 in SUNYAC action on Friday night. 
 
Brockport's record moved to 8-5 overall and the Golden Eagles remain in second place in the league standings with 15 total points (5-3 SUNYAC record).  Geneseo remains unbeaten and improved to 11-0-1 overall and 7-0-1 in conference play.

Brockport senior goalie Nolan Egbert stopped 31 shots, marking his third 30+ save effort of the season.  Pray's third period goal came at the 8:55 marker of the final stanza and he now has a career-best six goals this season through 13 games. 

Geneseo jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when Henry Cleghorn found the back of the net off assists from Chris Perna and Matthew Doran to hand the Ice Knights the early advantage. 
 
Brockport outshot the nation's top team 10-5 in the second period of play, but the Golden Eagles were held to an 0-for-2 effort on the power-play in the 20 minute stretch and the contest held at 1-0 headed into the final period of play.  22 of Brockport's 27 total shots came in the final 40 minutes of action. 

Geneseo added two insurance goals early in the third period to take a 3-0 lead.  The two goals came just 11 seconds apart and they came from the sticks of Tyson Gilmour and Greg Koutsomitis.  Doran picked up his second assist of the night on Geneseo's second goal of the game. 

Pray, Connor Galloway and Sam DiBitetto each posted a team-high four shots on goal for the Golden Eagles.  The Brockport penalty kill unit held Geneseo to a 0-for-3 effort with a man advantage, but the Golden Eagles were also held to an 0-for-4 effort on the power-play. 

Geneseo outshot Brockport 34-27 on the evening. 

The Golden Eagles will now have a month-long holiday/semester break and they return to action back at the friendly confines of the Tuttle North Ice Arena on January 7^th when they host non-conference foe Lebanon Valley. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m.

Higgins commits to Brockport

 

Josh Higgins, a forward for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to SUNY Brockport for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Orchard, Park, NY is in his 2nd season with the Avalanche, and 1st as the team's captain. In 64 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games to date, the all-star defenseman has tallied 23 total points to his credit.

"Josh has been a great player and a great leader for us, over the last two years," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He will join a handful of Avalanche alumni at Brockport. I think the SUNYAC as a league, and the school in general, fits Josh well, and I know he is going to have a very successful collegiate career both on the ice and in the classroom. Higgy will be tough to replace, but I can not wait to see what the future holds for him, he is a great young man."

As Cerella mentioned, Higgins will join five other Avalanche alumni when he arrives at Brockport, including the captain that preceded him in Hooksett. After leading the Avalanche to the 2021 EHL Championship Game, Chris Aarons set out to join the Golden Eagles back in late August/early September. Now, with Higgins' commitment, the Avalanche have sent back-to-back captains to Brockport.

"I’m excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at SUNY Brockport," said Higgins. "I would like to thank my parents and other family members for being there for me along the way, and helping me get to this point. Thank you to the Avalanche organization, specifically Coach Cerrella, Coach Vinny, and Coach Mario for the time and effort they have put in over the past 2 years to help me to get to college. I can’t wait to put on the green and gold next year!"

Brockport loses to Elmira in a rare Tuesday night affair

The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles (8-4,5-2) dropped its final home game of 2021 to non-conference opponent Elmira College (7-3-1,3-2-1) on Tuesday night by a score of 4-3.
 
The first goal of the game belonged to Mitchell Parsons who scored 1:39 into the first period off a assist from Anthony Hora and Ryan Romeo. The Soaring Eagle from Elmira would tally its first goal of the game at the 4:07 mark of the same period evening the game up a 1-1. At 6:15 Robert Flannery of Brockport would net a goal with assists from Romeo and Hora again to make the lead 2-1. After having assisted on the previous two plays, Romeo would net a slap-shot that managed to find its way into the back to give Brockport a 3-1 advantage heading into the second period of the game.
 
3-minutes into the start of the second period, Elmira would get another goal cutting its lead to one. The Soaring Eagles would then score again at the 13:40 mark of the period to tie the game at 3-3 which would remain the score going into the final period of play.
 
In the third period with both teams recording three goals each, Elmira would get the final goal of the game at 6:09 into the period. The score would remain 4-3 until the final horn of the night as Elmira would just edge Brockport.
 
A total of 14 penalties were called in the game as Elmira recorded eight trips to the penalty box. In face-offs, Brockport went 33 for 67.
 
In goal for the Golden Eagle's, Aidan Curry had a stellar performance recording a total of 31 saves allowing four goals, two of which from Elmira power-play opportunities.
 
The Golden Eagle's next contest will take place on Friday as they'll travel to neighboring Geneseo where they'll take on the #1 Nationally Ranked Knights. The game is scheduled to begin at 7pm at the Ira S. Wilson Arena in Geneseo, NY

Egbert and Romeo get SUNYAC honors again

 

Nolan Egbert and Ryan Romeo were named the SUNYAC/PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Athlete and Goaltender of the Week on Monday. Brockport won both of its games this past week, improving to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference on the season.

Nolan Egbert went 2-0 in a key SUNYAC Conference weekend for the Golden Eagles. He recorded a total of 57 saves in the Golden Eagle's wins over Buffalo State and Fredonia this past weekend. Against Buffalo State, Egbert recorded a total of 27 saves allowing only one goal in the teams 6-1 road victory. The following night in Brockport's 4-2 win over Fredonia, Egbert recorded a total of 30 saves against the Blue Devils finishing the weekend with a goals against average of 1.52. Allowing three goals against a total of 57 shots leaves Egbert with a .950 save percentage to end the weekend. Amongst goaltenders In the SUNYAC who have recorded over 500 minutes of play this season, Egbert currently ranks first in fewest goals allowed (14), goals against average (1.57), save percentage (.944%), win percentage (.778%) and wins (7).

Ryan Romeo finished the SUNYAC weekend with a team-high total of five points, tallying one assist in the team's 6-1 victory on the road at Buffalo State Friday. He also contributed to all four of Brockport's goals in a 4-2 victory over Fredonia at home on Saturday. He netted one power-play goal and recorded three assists. He was also +5 over the course of the two victories for the Golden Eagles. Romeo currently leads all defenders in the SUNYAC in goals (6), power-play goals (3), assists (12) and points (18). He currently leads all skaters in assists and is tied for first in points and ranks second in the conference in plus/minus (+16).

Romeo has a 4-point night in win over Fredonia

 The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team won its third consecutive game in a row on Saturday night, defeating Fredonia 4-1.
 
Four different Golden Eagles scored in the game including Ryan Romeo, Connor Galloway, Anthony Hora and Andrew Harley. Jacob King and Kevin Mainello record assists while Harley picked up two assists to go along with his goal. Ryan Romeo was able to contribute to all four goals in the game as he tallied three assists with his one goal.
 
In the first period, Brockport struck first on a power-play goal by Ryan Romeo with 56 seconds remaining in the period. Assisting him on the play was King and Mainello who helped give the Green and Gold a 1-0 lead heading into the second period of the game.
 
3:44 into the second period of play Fredonia would answer back to even up the game at 1-1 when Ethan Kirbis scored from an assist by Matt Letmanski. The goal would stand as the only goal of the period for either team.
 
With both teams heading into the third and final period of regular play, the Golden Eagle would take advantage of a 5 on 3 power-play opportunity when Andrew Harley would fire a shot that deflected off Fredonia's goaltender from their Connor Galloway gathered the rebound and put the puck into the back of the net. Galloway's power-play goal would put the Green and Gold up 2-1 at the 2:20 mark of the third period. Adding to Brockports third period goals was Anthony Hora who sent a shot from one knee into Fredonia's net making the Golden Eagles lead now 3-1. Trailing in the third, Fredonia would attempt to get back in the game and would manage to get one more goal prior to Andrew Harley scoring an empty net goal with 1:08 remaining in the game to give Brockport the win with a final score of 4-2.
 
In power-plays, Brockport was 2-5 on the night with Fredonia going 0-2 on power-play opportunities. In face offs, Brockport went 38 for 55 as Jacob King went 11-11 in face offs while Chris Aarons went 9-6, Mainello 9-5 and Mitchell Parsons 8-4.
 
In Net for the Golden Eagles, Nolan Egbert recorded a total of 30 saves allowing only 2 goals against Fredonia. Between last night's game at Buffalo State and tonight's, Egbert ends the weekend with a total of 57 saves and three goals allowed to end the weekend.
 
The Golden Eagle's next will host the Elmira Soaring Eagle's on Tuesday at 7pm in the Tuttle North Ice Arena. The contest will be the last home game for the men's ice hockey team before the end of the semester. From there they will travel to #1 Geneseo on Friday, December 10th for a 7pm puck drop until its next home game on Friday, January 7th.
 

Brockport declaws the Bengals

 The SUNY Brockport ice hockey team defeated the Buffalo State Bengals in Friday night's contest by a score of 6-1. In total, six different golden eagles managed to record goals while 10 players picked up assists in the 6-1 victory over Buffalo State.
 
Mitchell Parsons came to play, netting the first goal of the game only one minute and two seconds into the first period. Assisting Parsons on the play was the first defensive line of Anthony Hora and captain Ryan Romeo. The Bengals would come back scoring their first and only goal of the game to even things up 1-1 which would remain the score all the way until the end of the first period.
 
The second period saw complete dominance from the Golden Eagles scoring four unanswered goals. Netting the go ahead goal for the Green and Gold was Trevor Pray off assists from Tim Cronin and Kevin Mainello. Cronin's assists on the play marks the first of his collegiate career. Leading 2-1 at the 16:20 mark of the game, Mainello would put the puck in the back of the net himself with Pray and Cronin assisting him this time around to now lead 3-1.
 
29 short seconds later Brockport would add to it's lead as Andrew Harley scored to give extra insurance to the Golden Eagles as Jacob King and reigning SUNYAC Rookie of the Week Connor Galloway would pick up assists on the goal. After an interference penalty on the Buffalo State goalie would give the Golden Eagles a man advantage power-play opportunity, Jake Colosanti would net his first goal of the game at the 17:52 mark off a one timer towards the top of the point to give Brockport a commanding 5-1 lead heading into the final period of the game.
 
In the third period of play, Brockport managed to score yet again at the 17:41 mark as Jacob King recorded his seventh goal of the season on assists from Sam DiBitetto and Jake Colosanti
 
Brockport managed to send off a total of 38 shots against the Bengals, but only winning 28 of 64 faceoffs.
 
In Net yet again for Brockport was Nolan Egbert who managed to make a total of 27 saves allowing only one goal in the contest. Buffalo State's starting goalie Emil Norrman recorded 13 saves before coming out of the game as he would only allow one goal due to equipment malfunction before Connor Minch replaced him making a total of 19 saves and allowing five goals in the game.
 
Brockport will next host Fredonia on Saturday December 4th at home in the Tuttle North Ice Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7pm.
 

Brockport to take on WNY foes

 The SUNY Brockport Men's ice hockey team will split an away and home come this upcoming weekend as they'll travel to Buffalo State Friday night, before hosting Fredonia on Saturday. The Golden Eagle's game against the Bengal's on December 3rd is scheduled for 7pm at the Buffalo State Ice Arena. Brockport will then head back home to Host Fredonia the following night, December 4th, with puck drop scheduled for 7pm in the Tuttle North Ice Arena.
 
The Golden Eagle's traveled to Skidmore College over the weekend to take part in the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational. In the team's first game against Connecticut College, it saw the Green and Gold drop its third game in a row by a score of 3-2. The following day in the tournament's consolation game, the Golden Eagle's resurged defeating Chatham University by a score of 7-1.
 
Senior goalie Nolan Egbert picked up his fifth win of the season between the pipes for the Golden Eagles. He stopped 24 shots, including 12 in the second period alone. Egbert has allowed one goal or less in three contests this season.
 
As announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon, sophomore Connor Galloway was named the Prestosports Rookie of the Week for scoring his first collegiate hat-trick in the teams win over the Cougars. In team stats, Galloway is tied for third in goals (4), tied for fifth in assists (4) and sits alone in fifth in points (8), as well as third in the plus/minus category (+10).
 
The Golden Eagles as a team currently have been give the most power play opportunities in the conference as the team has had a total of 53 power-plays to work off. The Green and Gold have also only allowed a total of 82 penalty minutes with is the second lowest in the SUNYAC. The Golden Eagles rank second In the conference amongst goal allowed (16), second lowest in goals allowed average (1.78%), assists (64), and goals per game (4.00). the team is also ranked third in the conference in goals, having scored a total of 36 so far this season.
 
Captain Ryan Romeo is the current leader of all defenseman In three major scoring categories in the SUNYAC as he's tallied 13 points on five goals and assists nine games into the season. Freshman Jacob King currently ranks tied for second in points amongst forwards in the conference as he's tallied 12 so far this year. his six goals place him tied for fourth amongst forwards and tied for seventh in assists with six.
Amongst netminders, Nolan Egbert is tied for second in the conference in goals allowed (11), goals against average (1.58), save percentage (.942) and tied for first in the SUNYAC for wins (5).
 
Looking at Buffalo State, The Bengal's are currently 4-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The teams most recent game saw them lose to Trine University by a score of 5-3 on Saturday November 27th. Nikita Kozyrev is the teams leader in points so far this season as he's recorded 10 points on four goals and six assists. Starting in net for six games this season, Emil Norrman has allowed a total of 18 goals making 188 saves while spending nearly 357 minutes in goal.
 
Looking at Fredonia, they have started off the season with a 4-3-1 overall record and a conference record of 2-1. In the Blue Devil's most previous game on Tuesday, November 23rd, they battled the Nazareth Golden Flyers which ended in a 2-2 tie game. Prior to the Blue Devil's game against the Golden Eagle's on Saturday, they'll first play host to traveling #1 Geneseo. Leading the Blue Devil's offense this season is David Sudbrink who leads the team in goals (4), assists (5) and points (9). Logan Dyck has started in net in all seven games for Fredonia allowing 17 goals in 417:16 time in net. He's recorded 244 total saves and accumulated 2.44 goals against average.
 
Brockport's home game against Fredonia will be the last weekend night game for the Golden Eagle's before winter break. the Golden Eagle's will host one more game following the weekend as they'll welcome Elmira College on Tuesday night for a rare weekday showcase. The game will take place in the Tuttle North Ice Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7pm.
