The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles (8-4,5-2) dropped its final home game
of 2021 to non-conference opponent Elmira College (7-3-1,3-2-1) on
Tuesday night by a score of 4-3.
The first goal of the game belonged to Mitchell Parsons who scored 1:39 into the first period off a assist from Anthony Hora and Ryan Romeo.
The Soaring Eagle from Elmira would tally its first goal of the game at
the 4:07 mark of the same period evening the game up a 1-1. At 6:15 Robert Flannery
of Brockport would net a goal with assists from Romeo and Hora again to
make the lead 2-1. After having assisted on the previous two plays,
Romeo would net a slap-shot that managed to find its way into the back
to give Brockport a 3-1 advantage heading into the second period of the
game.
3-minutes into the start of the second period, Elmira would get another
goal cutting its lead to one. The Soaring Eagles would then score again
at the 13:40 mark of the period to tie the game at 3-3 which would
remain the score going into the final period of play.
In the third period with both teams recording three goals each, Elmira
would get the final goal of the game at 6:09 into the period. The score
would remain 4-3 until the final horn of the night as Elmira would just
edge Brockport.
A total of 14 penalties were called in the game as Elmira recorded eight
trips to the penalty box. In face-offs, Brockport went 33 for 67.
In goal for the Golden Eagle's, Aidan Curry had a stellar performance recording a total of 31 saves allowing four goals, two of which from Elmira power-play opportunities.
The Golden Eagle's next contest will take place on Friday as they'll
travel to neighboring Geneseo where they'll take on the #1 Nationally
Ranked Knights. The game is scheduled to begin at 7pm at the Ira S.
