Brockport beats Canton 3-1

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team traveled to SUNY Canton and beat the Kangaroos 3-1 claiming the weekend series sweep after having previously defeated Canton last night 7-2.
 
Andrew Harley recorded two goals and one assist in the game one night after scoring two goals and two assists against the Kangaroos. Defenseman Casey Winn also scored for the Golden Eagles in the teams 3-1 victory. Connor Galloway picked up two assists tonight while Anthony Hora, Ryan Romeo and Jacob King picked one assist in the game.
 
1st Period:
Brockport defenseman Casey Winn scored the first goal of the game one-minute into the period. Assisting Winn were Galloway and Harley. With the score 1-0, SUNY Canton bounced back 17-minutes into the period to even up the game 1-1.
 
3rd Period:
Following a scoreless second period, the Golden Eagles took the lead when Andrew Harley scored to give Brockport the 2-1 lead 11:59 into the final period.  Harley's goal came shorthanded with assists from the defensive line of Ryan Romeo and Anthony Hora. With under a minute remaining in the game Harley recorded his second goal of the night on an empty netter with assists from Connor Galloway and Jacob King. Following the empty netter, time expired as Brockport came out victorious with the 3-1 win.
 
Goaltending:
Junior Aiden Curry was in net for the Golden Eagle's making 19 saves against 20 shots on goal en route to his third win this season. Pierce Diamond recorded the L for SUNY Canton as he allowed two goals against 14 shots. With Curry's win tonight puts him at .500 for a Wins-to-Loss ratio this season.
 
Notable Stats:
With Andrew Harleys three points tonight and four last night, he finishes the weekend with seven points on four goals and three assists. Harley ranks third in the conference in points (27) and assists (13) as per SUNYACsports.com. With Romeo's assist in the game, he has now reached 20 assists, nine goals for 29 points this season. Romeo is the #1 defenseman in the country in points and #2 in the nation in assists according to USCHO.com
 
Looking Forward:
The men will return to SUNYAC action next weekend when they'll travel to the north country of New York where they'll face off against SUNY Potsdam on Friday, Jan 28th at 7 pm. Following the game against the Bears, the Golden Eagles will head to Plattsburgh State to matchup in a big SUNYAC standings matchup with the Cardinals. That game is set to begin at 7pm.
