Brockport falls in hard-fought battle with #3 Geneseo

 The Brockport hockey team dropped the first of two matchups against #3 Geneseo, 3-2, on Friday, November 22nd. The Golden Eagles fell to 0-5-2 overall and 0-5 in UCHC play.
 
The Green and Gold would net the first and only goal of the first period. Jacob Rodrigue and Aidan Taylor would set up Livio Azevedo for the opening goal at 9:36.
 
Cole Hudson would keep the Golden Eagles ahead, making 19 saves in the opening period to give Brockport a 1-0 lead entering the second.
 
The Knights' offense would take over in the second, with Sean Melso and Tommy Winn giving Geneseo a 2-1 edge.
 
Needing an equalizer, Josh Grund would come through on the power play, with Aidan Taylor picking up his second assist on the day.
 
Geneseo would be quick to respond, with Sean Melso lighting the lamp for the second time at 15:56 to put the Knights back in front 3-2 entering the third.
 
Despite each team going on the powerplay and 21 combined shots on goal, each goalie would stand tall in the third.
 
With the goalie pulled, Aidan Taylor and Josh Grund would threaten with scoring chances. However, Geneseo goalie Adam Harris would stand tall for the 3-2 win.
 
Mitchell Haight and Schuyler Flansburg would lead Brockport with two blocked shots each.
 
Cole Hudson was excellent in defeat, making 45 saves on the day and saving nearly 94% of the shots he faced,
 
Victor Malzahn would chip in with an assist on the day.
 
Josh Grund had a strong all-around day, netting a goal and going 4-0 in the faceoff circle.
