Brockport heads to Cortland to start playoffs

 On Wednesday night the No. 5 seeded Golden Eagle ice hockey team will head down to No. 4 Cortland to face the Red Dragons in the 1st Round of the SUNYAC Tournament. The game is scheduled for 7pm start in the Alumni Arena.
 
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles defeated SUNY Morrisville, 6-3, on Saturday night on the road. Brockport earned another two points towards conference standings, clinching a spot in the postseason as the 5th seed with an overall record of 8-13-4 and 5-9-2 in the conference.
 
Spreading the Love: In the latest win against Morrisville, 13 different Golden Eagles registered a point. Dominic Chirico, Chase Maxwell, Andrew Harley, Scott Ramaekers, Ryan Brow and Connor Galloway all found the back of the net. Spencer Flansburg, Jordan Rosenbaum, Tobin Winslow, Josh Grund, Manny Sanchez, Jacob Gates and Victor Malzahn each had an assist.
 
SUNYAC Standings: Brockport taking the No. 5 seed, the team will travel to face No. 4 Cortland. The other first round matchup in the postseason has No. 6 Potsdam traveling to No. 3 Plattsburgh. No. 1 Geneseo and No. 2 Oswego have earned byes straight into the Semifinals. Here is the full listing of the final postseason seeding:

Postseason History: Brockport officially clinches a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Head Coach Brian Dickinson gets the program to the postseason for the 11th time in that last 17 seasons. Since taking over the program iin 1996, Dickinson has put the Golden Eagles in the postseason 13 different times. This includes a recent run to the SUNYAC Semifinals in 2022.

Looking at the Red Dragons: Cortland is entering Wednesday's matchup with an overall record of 15-8-2 overall and 10-5-1 in the conference. The Red Dragons currently sit in the 4th seed. The team has recorded 95 goals this season and 927 shots. They average 3.8 goals a game. Their leading scorers are #18 Nate Berke with 12 goals and 19 assists, and #19 Colby Seitz with 10 goals and 16 assists. Between the pipes for the Red Dragons are Jack Riedell, Hunter Hein and Ronan Mobley. Riedell has played 650:56 in goal this season, allowing 24 goals and making 330 saves. His save percentage is .932% and he averages giving up 2.21 goals a game. Mobley has played 674:18 minutes on the ice this season making 328 saves and allowing 32 goals. He averages giving up 2.85 goals a game and has a save percentage of .911%
