Brockport beats Fredonia

The Brockport ice hockey team defended home ice with a 2-1 win over Freedonia on Tuesday, January 21st. Following the non-conference win, the Golden Eagles improved to 4-9-2 on the season.
 
Goalie David Filak provided an excellent outing, making 31 saves with just one goal allowed in a strong effort.
 
Following a scoreless first period, Spencer Flansburg would open the game's scoring at 18:46, with assists going to Schuyler Flansburg and Ryan Brow.
 
David Filak would hold the Blue Devils scoreless through two periods, making 17 stops, including 12 in the second period.
 
On the penalty kill, the Golden Eagles would double their advantage with Connor McAleer finding Kaleb Miller at 16:50 to go up 2-0.
 
With less than 40 seconds remaining, Fredonia would finally break through, with Antoine St. Onge putting the Blue Devils on the board.
 
Despite pulling the goalie for the man advantage, the Golden Eagles defense would hold strong to preserve the 2-1 victory.      
 
Jacob Rodrigue would finish with a game-best +2 rating for the Green and Gold.
 
Faceoff wins proved to be hard to come by, with each team winning 30 draws each.
