The Brockport hockey team picked up its first win of the season, downing Nazareth 4-3 in overtime on Saturday, December 7th. The Golden Eagles moved to 1-7-2 overall and 1-7 in UCHC play.
Strong goaltending highlighted the first period, with Dax Easter making eight saves to send Brockport into the second period tied 0-0.
The Golden Eagles offense would thrive to start the second, with Jordan Rosenbaum scoring the opening goal 1:44 into the second to put Brockport ahead 1-0.
Just 1:14 later, Brockport would double its advantage, this time with Ben Saurbaugh finding Nick Serafin to extend the Brockport advantage.
Following a Golden Flyer goal to cut the lead to 2-1, the Brockport offense would strike for the third time in the second. Spencer Flansburg would light the lamp just 22 seconds removed from Nazareth's goal, with Livio Azevedo picking up the assist.
The Golden Flyers regained momentum in the third, netting two goals in
3:10 to tie the contest at 3-3 and send the game into overtime.
Controlling the puck for the entirety of overtime, the Golden Eagles would secure their first win of the season. Schuyler Flansburg would be the hero, netting the golden goal in overtime to give Brockport the 4-3 victory.
Sacha Trudel was excellent in the faceoff circle, winning nine of 13 draws.
Chase Maxwell did much of the same, winning seven of his 12 faceoff opportunities.
Jacob Gates came through in crunch time, assisting on Flansburg's overtime winner.
Dax Easter picked up the win in a strong effort, saving 35 shots and allowing just three goals.
