The SUNY Brockport ice hockey tied SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh State,
1-1, at the Wegmans Ice Arena. Brockport earned a big point in the
conference standings and moved to 6-11-3 overall and 3-7-1 in the
conference.
Plattsburgh struck first at 3:50 in the first period, but was held
scoreless for the rest of the game. Brockport recorded nine shots in the
first period and entered the first intermission down 1-0.
Both teams failed to score in the second, leading the Golden Eagles into the third period down by one still.
Josh Grund answered the call and evened up the score at 18:38 in the third period. Grund was assisted by Chase Maxwell and Spencer Flansburg. The late score would send this conference clash into overtime.
During the 3v3, 5-minute overtime period neither team would break the
tie. Both teams earned a point in the standings following the 1-1 draw.
Dylan Wiemer played an outstanding game in net, making 42 saves and allowing just one goal.
On the faceoff, Brockport went 37-for-66 against the Cardinals.
