The SUNY Brockport ice hockey team will host its home opener and first
game of SUNYAC play this weekend on Saturday, November 6th, against
Morrisville State College. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m in the Tuttle
North Ice Arena.
Coming off of a 2-0 weekend down in Pennsylvania to start off the
regular season, Brockports first win of the season came on Friday night
at King's College which saw the Golden Eagles storm back from a 2-0
deficit with 12:15 remaining in the game to defeat the Monarchs by a
score of 3-2. Jacob King started off the team's scoring rally as Mitchell Parsons and Trevor Pray
would score the next two to secure the teams win. Pray's goal came with
2:14 remaining in the final period of action to give the Golden Eagle's
its first lead and was marked as the game winning goal.
Following Friday night's come from behind win, the team then traveled to
Aston, PA on Saturday where the Green and Gold looked to battle the
Neumann University Knights. Trevor Pray
would tally the Golden Eagles first goal in the game, picking up where
he left off Friday night. Six different Golden Eagle's scored in the
game, while Nolan Egbert
recorded a total of 25 saves in net for the Green and Gold without
allowing one goal to help set up the 6-0 shutout victory for Brockport.
Egbert's shutout effort against Neumann on Saturday was enough for the
transfer senior to be rewarded the first SUNYAC Prestosports Goaltender
of the Week Award for the 2021-2022 season. The news was announced by
the conference office on Monday afternoon.
The SUNY Brockport men's hockey team is also receiving votes in the
first release of the USCHO.com Division III National Poll released
Monday afternoon by the highly popular college hockey website. The
Golden Eagles are receiving six votes in the poll.
Looking at Brockport's, upcoming opponent Morrisville, the Mustangs are
0-1 this season after falling to Lebanon Valley College Saturday evening
by a score of 5-4. Morrisvilles Jake Kaplan and Curtis Abbott are tied
on the team for first place in points with two apiece. Kaplan recorded
each a goal and an assist in Saturday's loss to the Dutchman while
Curtis recorded a pair of assists in the game. Goalie Owen Liskiewicz
played a total of 58:21 in goal for the Mustangs as he allowed a total
of five goals, saving 19 shots in the team's loss.
After this weekends SUNYAC home opener, the team will host a pair of
game's SUNY Potsdam and Plattsburgh State. Facing Potsdam on Friday,
November 12th, the Golden Eagles will host Senior Night prior to the
start of the game. Saturday night the Green and Gold will then turn its
attention to visiting Plattsburgh State. Both, contested as SUNYAC
conference games, are slated for puck drop to take place at 7 p.m.
