The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team (5-2,3-2) dropped its second
game of the season to hosting SUNY Cortland (4-2-1, 2-2-1) by a score of
4-2. Jacob King would score both Golden Eagle's goals with Connor Galloway tallying two assists and Andrew Harley picking up one assist during the game.
The Golden Eagle's managed to get the first point of the game when Jacob King scored his fourth goal this season at the 15:47 mark of the first period. Andrew Harley and Connor Galloway
helped King's goal as the two picked up assists. Cortland tied things
back up at 1-1 following a power-play goal with 3:04 remaining in the
first period.
The Red Dragon's would take their first lead of the game with 2:05
remaining in the second period on an even strength goal making Cortland
lead 2-1 entering the third period of play.
Cortland would go on to extend its lead in the third period 3-1 at the
5:32 mark of the final period. The Golden Eagle's would bring their
deficit back to one off Jacob King's
second goal of the night. King's goal to make the score 3-2, came with
an extra attacker on ice off a delayed penalty with Galloway assisting
him for the second time tonight. The Red Dragon's would close out the
game when with six seconds left, they'd score the final goal on an empty
net to give the Red Dragon's the 4-2 victory.
The Green and Gold would manage to record a total of 27 shots in the
game against that of the Red Dragons 29 shots. In faceoffs Brockport
managed to win 31 of 64 faceoffs during the night. Capitalizing on
power-plays was another struggle for the Golden Eagle's as the team went
0-5 on power-play opportunities compared to Cortland who went 1-3 on
power-play opportunities.
Nolan Egbert spent the nearly 60-minutes in goal for Brockport as he recorded 24 saves throughout the night.
The Golden Eagle's will return to action on the road next weekend as the
team will travel to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY for the
Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational. Brockport will face Connecticut
College in the first game at 5 p.m. on Saturday November 27th. pending
results the Golden Eagle's will then play at 1 or 4 pm the following day
in a consolation or finals game against either Chatham University or
hosting Skidmore College.
