The SUNY Brockport hockey team moved into the receiving votes category
of the USHCO.com Division III national poll released by the highly
popular college hockey website on Monday afternoon.
Brockport has now won eight of its last nine contests and currently holds a 13-7 overall record. The Golden Eagles are 6-5 in the conference heading into a key weekend that features a road game on Friday at Cortland, before returning home to host Oswego on Saturday (4 p.m.).
All-American candidate Ryan Romeo leads the team and ranks third nationally among defenders with an average of 1.20 points per game. He now has 24 points on nine goals and 15 assists for the Golden Eagles. Romeo is also tied for 13th nationally with six power-play goals this season.
Senior goalie Matt Schneider has 11 wins this season to go along with 279 saves and a 2.58 goals against average. He has 28 career victories to his credit and needs just one more to tie the College's all-time wins record for a goalie, originally set back in 2010 by Todd Sheridan. He also need three more wins this season to tie the program record for most wins by a goalie in a single season.
Jordan Renaud and Connor Hutchins are tied for second on the team with 17 points this season. Renaud has seven goals and 10 assists, while Hutchins has five goals and 12 assists. Renauds three game-winning goals this season lead the team. Hutchins needs just eight more points this season to reach 100 for his career.
