The College at Brockport ice hockey team defeated SUNY Cortland Saturday
afternoon, by a score of 2-1. With the loss, the Golden Eagles move to
(7-3-1(overall and (2-3-1) in conference, while the Red Dragons move to
(4-6-0) and (2-5-0) in the SUNYAC.
The Golden Eagles fell behind early as the Red Dragons scored three minutes into the period on the powerplay. The Green and Gold had some chances on the PP of their own in the first but Cortland's penalty kill held off the attack.
The Red Dragons got off to a quick start in the second, scoring their second goal of the night 51 seconds into the period. Brockport narrowed the score within one after Ryan Romeo let a bomb go from the point with assists from Corey Tam and Connor Hutchins. The Golden Eagles first goal came on the PP with 14 minutes remaining in the period.
The two teams battled hard in the third period, each with their own chances on the powerplay but the early second period goal from Cortland would prove to be too much to come back from. Brockport's goalkeeper Jake Moore had another fantastic outing, making 22 saves on the night.
