I'd like to give a special shoutout to the freshmen...
This past weekend was a magical one for Brockport hockey. In what were must-win terms, the Golden Eagles poured on the goals and made it into the playoffs -- and at the same time they completed our program's first ever regular season sweep of Plattsburgh.
Most freshmen would have caved under that intense pressure. They would have folded, made mistakes, turned the puck over and tried to do too much.
Not our guys. They played with a maturity that belies their "rookie" status. Just look at these performances...
Connor Hutchins netted a hat trick on Friday. He picked up an assist on Saturday.
Doc Gentzler scored a goal Friday, then picked up 2 goals and 2 assists on Saturday.
Matt Schneider got two wins in goal.
Those are huge performances.
Brockport hockey fans are blessed to have those guys this season, and blessed to have them for 3 more. The future is bright.
