Here is a letter to Golden Eagles hockey alumni from assistant coach Stephen Mallaro. You can email him at: smallaro@brockport.edu
Dear Former Golden Eagles,
We are excited to announce that this upcoming weekend is our annual alumni weekend. However this year is even more exciting as Saves for a Cure falls on the same weekend. I am sure all of you are aware of alumni Todd Sheridan ’10 and his foundation and the fight against cancer! Online now is the current auction for the Saves for a Cure jersey’s we will be wearing over the weekend. Go to our website, http://www.gobrockport.com and the Men’s Ice Hockey homepage and you will find the link to the auction on the right hand side.
We are looking forward to having a good number of alumni in attendance as we take on SUNY Canton at 7PM, Saturday November 15th.
Details/Information for Alumni weekend are as following:
• Saves for a Cure Jersey Auction now online. Two Jersey’s to bid on this year!
• 3PM—Alumni game at Tuttle North Ice Arena on November 15th
• 4:30PM—Saves for a Cure dinner at Fazool’s in Brockport. $12 per person
o We are encouraging everyone to attend the dinner at Fazool’s
• 7PM—Brockport Golden Eagles v. Canton
• 10PM—Alumni/Family/Player gathering at Bill Gray’s Tap Room 4647 Lake Rd. Brockport, NY 14420
This year has already been an exciting time for Brockport Ice Hockey. We are looking to continually get better day in and day out between practice and games. This season we have started off 1-3, but there has been a ton of positives to take away. We earned our first win on Saturday versus a new and improved Potsdam Bears team after a hard fought 1-0 lost to Plattsburgh on Friday night. A strong effort and response in the 3rd period Saturday night was what we needed to get soaring. We will continue to grow and get better as we head into a good week of practice before alumni weekend.
The coaching staff has been talking about the potential upgrades at Tuttle North, however we need your help as alumni. The most recent talk is to upgrade the stands as all of you know can be very hazardous if someone is not familiar with them. With that being said, the coaching staff has talked about the idea of planning for a new expanded locker room and eventually new boards and glass, but without the help of the Golden Eagle Alumni this will never be made possible. The College at Brockport Ice Hockey family is looking to expand this season as well as in the future raising money to continue to make our program better.
We look forward to greeting all of you this weekend and having you back to Tuttle North! Please RSVP no later than Wednesday, November 12th. I know this letter is getting out late, but we are looking to solidify numbers to accommodate for a gathering after the game Saturday night at Bill Gray’s.
Again, thank you for your continued support, safe travels, and Go Golden Eagles!
