The Brockport hockey team fell to Manhattanville, 3-0, on Saturday at
the Wegmans Ice Arena. Brockport dropped to 4-11-2 overall and 2-10 in
UCHC play following the loss.
In the first period, the Golden Eagles were unable to capitalize on
their opportunities, resulting in a 1-0 deficit entering the second
period. Brockport managed to outshoot their opponent but had all
attempts, including shots by Matt Anastasio and Livio Azevedo, saved by Manhattanville's goalie, William Billequey.
Despite strong goaltending from David Filak, who made nine saves, Manhattanville's Lane Paddison scored the lone goal at 1:26, giving the visitors the lead.
During the second period, Brockport and Manhattanville remained at 1-0,
with both teams unable to convert on multiple opportunities. The Golden
Eagles successfully killed a two-minute tripping penalty against Joseph Nikac, maintaining a strong defense led by David Filak, who made several key saves.
Brockport won eight faceoffs and managed eight shots on goal, but William Billequey was able to keep the puck out of the net.
Brockport was unable to capitalize on multiple scoring opportunities in
the third period, failing to find the back of the net despite numerous
scoring chances. Manhattanville extended their lead with two goals in
the period, one by Elijah Devereaux at the 8:06 mark and another by
Nicholas Rogers at 3:42.
Brockport's defense managed to block several shots, with Livio Azevedo and Mitchell Haight each contributing to defensive stops, but the team ultimately could not overcome Manhattanville's 3-0 advantage.
Michael Meredith was solid in the faceoff circle, winning 10 of 15 draws.
In defeat, David Filak provided a strong effort with 34 saves on the day.
