Alumnus Dave Hostetter has passed away


An alumnus of the hockey team has passed away. Dave Hostetter played for the Golden Eagles in the 1970s and graduated from the college in 1979. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.

David W. Hostetter
June 24, 1957 — August 20, 2024

David W Hostetter of Rochester passed away August 20, 2024 from a 2 year battle with cancer. He was born in Montreal, Quebec Canada.

Predeceased by his parents B.David and Madge Hostetter, sister Bonnie Collins, father-in-law and mother-in-law Louis and Marge Canale. Survived by his wife Susan, sons Jonathan and Eric (Kaylee), sister-in-law Luanne (Greg) Kovacs of Atlantic Beach Fl, brother-in-law John (Cindy) Canale of Batavia NY, aunt Sarah Hostetter of Boston MA, his Canadian family, furry friends Milo and Marley, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dave received his undergraduate degree from SUNY Brockport and his Masters degree from RIT. He was an IT Executive at Bausch and Lomb, RIT where he retired and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes where he completed his professional career.

Hockey was a huge part of Dave’s life. He played goalie for 42 years beginning at 8 years old in Canada. In addition to playing the sport, he coached Jonathan and Eric from youth hockey up through college hockey at St Bonaventure University. Loved by all he coached.

Dave was a car enthusiast with a passion for Porsches. He was a member of the Niagara Region of the Porsche Club of America for 38 years holding leadership positions of President, VP, Board Member, Driver Ed Committee Member, Driver Ed Instructor and Driver Ed Classroom lead. He was an advocate and instructor for Street Survival. He drove his Porsches on numerous tracks, but his favorite by far was Watkins Glen International which he drove too many times to count.

He had a good ride.

At Dave’s request, there will be no public service held.

Ramaekers continues to play hockey

 


The Binghamton Black Bears are proud to announce that forward, Scott Ramaekers, has been re-signed for the the 2024-25 season. The SUNY Brockport alum played in eight regular-season games last year.

In his second game with the Black Bears, Ramaekers scored two goals against the Elmira River Sharks. He spent six years as a member of the Buffalo Jr. Sabers organization. Prior to joining the Black Bears, the 26-year-old had played the last four seasons with the Golden Eagles in the SUNYAC. In 91 games with Brockport, Ramaekers recorded 16 goals and added 20 assists.
