The SUNY Brockport hockey team fell to SUNY Canton Saturday evening,
4-3. Brockport is now 5-9-2 overall on the season and remains 3-5 in
conference play after the weekend.
Canton drew first blood for the second night in a row, scoring at 5:46 into the first period to take an early 1-0 lead. Jack Powers answered with his first collegiate goal, tying the game up at 1-1. Michael Meredith earned his fourth assist of the season (8th point) on Powers' goal. Nick Serafin
picked up the second assist on Brockport's first goal at 11:19 into the
first. The score would remained tied at 1-1 to end the first.
Andrew Harley
scored the Golden Eagles second goal of the night at 11:43 into the
second period unassisted, putting Brockport up 2-1. Harley poked the
puck free in the defensive zone and scored on the breakaway opportunity.
Canton snuck one in at 13:55, sending both teams into the third tied at
2-2.
Now in the third period, Canton would break the tie with a goal at 5:10 to take a 3-2 edge. Josh Grund scored his fifth goal of the season (11thpoint) at 10:44 into the third to tie the game once again. Grund was assisted by Jacob Gates and Harley. At 14:33 in to the third, the visiting Roos scored the final goal of the game to grab the 4-3 win.
Dylan Wiemer
spent 59:04 minutes on the ice tonight, making 30 saves and allowing 4
goals. Brockport pulled Wiemer late for a sixth skater, but the team was
unable to find the equalizer.
