The SUNY Brockport Ice Hockey Program will head to Canton New York this Friday, January 5th for
a 5pm puck drop against SUNY Canton. The Golden Eagles will then host
the Roos the following night for a 7pm puck drop at the Wegman's Ice
Arena.
What Happened in 2023: Through the first part of the
season, Brockport owns a record of 5-8-1 overall. This included a big
win over a No. 10, nationally-ranked Salve Regina. The Green and Gold
also defeated No. 15 Skidmore in a shootout (1-0), after playing the
Thoroughbreds to a 2-2 draw at their Thanksgiving Invitational. In
SUNYAC play, the Golden Eagles are 3-5 heading into 2024. They hold the
sixth spot in the conference standings with seven points.
Putting Up Points: Connor Galloway is first for the Golden Eagles with 12 points so far this season. He has three goals and leads the squad with nine assists. Josh Grund, Chase Maxwell, Scott Ramaekers, Manny Sanchez, Schuyler Flansburg, Michael Meredith, Ben Saurbaugh, and Matt Anastasio have all scored three goals. Grund is second on the team in points (8) and second in assists (5). Jacob Rodrigue also have five helpers on the year.
In Net: Dylan Wiemer
has been the starter in net for Brockport through most of the games so
far this season. In 10 starts he has made 304 saves and allowed 36
goals. This has earned him a .894 saves percentage and a 3.74 goals
against average.
Looking at the Roos: SUNY Canton is 3-11 overall
heading into this weekend's matchup. The Roos have recorded 33 goals and
382 shots. They average 2.4 goals a game and 27.3 shots. So far this
season they are 4 for 44 on the power play and 41 for 54 on the penalty
kill. Leading the team in goals is #27 Niko Schoner with 9 goals and 5
assists.
Between the pipes for the Roos are Trey Miller, Kelson Hooper and Nate
Hopkins. Miller has seen 246:30 minutes in goal this season making 132
saves and allowing 16 goals. He has a saver percentage of .892 and is
1-2 on the season so far. Hooper has seen 365:31 minutes of ice time and
has made 210 saves. He has given up 25 goals, and averages 4.10 a game.
He is 2-5 going into this weekend's matchup. Hopkins has seen 222:41
minutes on the ice and made 122 saves, giving up 20 goals. He has a save
percentage of .859% and a record of 0-4.
