The Golden Eagles blew out the Morrisville State Mustangs Wednesday
night, earning themselves an 8-2 win. Brockport is now 5-7-1 overall and
3-5 in the conference.
Morrisville struck first scoring just 54 seconds into the first period. However, Michael Meredith was quick to answer the call scoring at 2:33 in the first assisted by Connor Roach.
Connor Roach got on the board next with a goal at 6:02 into the first, assisted by Jacob Rodrigue. Morrisville would score once more in the opening period at 10:43 to tie the score at 2-2 heading into the first intermission.
Matt Anastasio scored on the power play just 22 seconds into the second period assisted by both Manny Sanchez and Chase Maxwell. Maxwell's assist extends his point streak to five games in a row with at least one point.
Now with a 3-2 lead, Ben Saurbaugh
added Brockport's fourth goal of the night at 4:43 into the second
period. He was assisted by Roach and Meredith on the break away goal.
Saurbaugh sent the puck flying into the back of the net again for his
second goal of the night. Meredith earned himself his third point of the
night with the assist to Saurbaugh as the Green and Gold went up 5-2. Tobin Winslow also picked up an assist on the Golden Eagles' fifth goal of the contest.
Andrew Harley capped off a four-goal showing for Brockport in the second period. He got on the board at 15:51 into the second, assisted by Jacob Gates, to make it a 6-2 lead for the Golden Eagles.
Up by four goals to start the third, Manny Sanchez got the ball rolling early in the period. With his goal just 1:07 into the period, assisted by Scott Ramaekers, Brockport held a commanding 7-2 lead.
Josh Grund scored the final goal of the game at 2:26 into the third, assisted by Andrew Harley and Jacob Rodrigue. Grund's goal would be the final score of the game for either team, securing an 8-2 victory.
Dylan Wiemer spent 60:00 minutes in goal tonight making 34 saves, allowing two goals.
