The SUNY Brockport ice hockey team will head on an overnight business
trip up north for a pair of games this weekend. On Friday, November 11th at 7pm the men will face SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh State and the following night they will take on SUNY Potsdam at 5pm.
Last Weekend Recap: The Golden Eagles traveled to the
SUNY Morrisville IcePlex to compete against Morrisville State over the
last weekend. The Green and Gold beat the Mustangs, 6-3, giving them a
record of 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC.
Throughout the 60 minutes on the ice, the team recorded 30 shots, six goals and six penalties.
Chase Maxwell wasted no time scoring the first goal of the game at 9:47 in the first period, assisted by teammate Andrew Harley. Michael Meredith wanted in on the fun and scored at 11:59 in the first, assisted by teammates James Tilley and Chris Aarons. The Golden Eagles finished the first period with a two-goal lead over Morrisville.
Early into the second Cam Barbagallo sent the puck past the goalie into the back of the net. Barbagallo was assisted by teammates Sam Dibitetto and Josh Grund. Morrisville scored soon after making the score read 3-1 in the second period. Connor Galloway scored at 10:08 in the second assisted by Chase Maxwell and Andrew Harley to put Brockport up 4-1.
Two assists weren't enough for Harley, as 34 seconds later he scored a goal himself. Jacob Rodrigue and Connor Galloway were credited with assists on the score. The Golden Eagles started the third period with a 5-1 lead over the Mustangs.
After two Morrisville goals, Matt Anastasio sent a puck into the back of the net scoring Brockports final goal of the, 6-3, game. Jake Mendeszoon and Manny Sanchez assisted on the play, as the squad took its first conference win of the season.
Nolan Egbert spent
another 60 minutes between the pipes for The Green and Gold. Egbert
made a total of 38 saves, allowed three goals, and earned his second win
of the season in net.
Looking at the Cardinals: Plattsburgh State is 2-1-1
overall and 1-1 in the conference, going into this weekend's matchup.
The men have a total of 15 goals this season and 145 total shots. They
average about 3.8 goals a game. Their leading scorer is Junior Forward,
Paul Bryer with three goals. Following close behind with two goals are
Jack Ring, Carson Gallagher and Matt Araujo.
Between the Pipes for the Cards are two goalies, #31 Jacob Hearne and
#34 Kyle Alaverdy. They've both seen 120 minutes in net this season.
Hearne has allowed two goals, made 53 saves and has a save percentage of
.964. Alaverdy has allowed six goals, made 41 saves and has a save
percentage of .872.
Looking at the Bears: SUNY Potsdam is 0-3-0 overall and
0-2 in the conference going into the match this weekend. The Men have a
total of 5 goals this season and 69 total shots. They Average about 1.7
goals a game and 23 shots. Their leading scorers are Drew Rose, Mason
Hoehn, Jack Loran, Garrett McArthur and Justin Vernace all with one goal
this season.
In between the pipes for the bears are #32 Stephan Friedland and #31
Connor Green. Friedland has spent 76:41 minutes in the net this season
with 48 saves, eight goals against and a save percentage of .857. Green
has spent 1:03.07 minutes between the pipes, made 56 saves and has
allowed 11 goals, giving him a save percentage of .836.
