The SUNY Brockport ice hockey team got back in the win column on
Saturday with a road victory over Bryn Athyn, 4-2. Brockport is now 13-7
overall and 6-5 in conference play.
The Golden Eagles took advantage of its power play opportunities in the
first period with two power play goals in the opening period. Connor Hutchins got them on the board first with assists coming from Ryan Romeo and Jordan Renaud. The second Brockport goal was scored by Romeo less than two minutes later, assisted by Anthony Hora and Danny Rock. The team held a 2-0 lead heading into the second.
Early on in the second period Bryn Athyn finally got on the scoreboard
to make the score read 2-1 after a power play goal of its own. The Green
and Gold would answer back in a big way with two more goals to close
out the period. Kevin Mainello and Robert Flannery both netted their first goals of the season to give the team a 4-1 lead heading into the final period. Shane Visnick and Scott Ramaekers both were credited with an assist.
Although Bryn Athyn found the back of the net for a second time early on
in the third, Brockport held on for the 4-2 win. Senior goaltender Matt Schneider came up with 25 saves in the game, picking up the win in net.
