Cam Barbagallo, a defenseman for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to SUNY Brockport for the fall of 2020.
The '99 native of Peabody, MA, joined the team in late January, and in nine Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games since, he's notched a pair of goals and a pair of assists to his name.
"Cam came to us late after leaving the NCDC and he fit right in to our culture and locker room," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He was a great addition and I am excited about his future in college hockey. I think he will be a great addition to the SUNY Brockport community both on and off the ice. I am proud of Cam and look forward to following him in the SUNYAC."
Barbagallo will be part if an incoming freshmen class that includes six players from the EHL. Of those six players, the Avalanche now account for half of the commits, as Barbagallo will reunite with Jake Mendeszoon and Tim Cronin in western New York this fall. Barbagallo is very excited for the future and also gracious for the chance to join the Avalanche when he did.
"I would like to thank everyone in the Avalanche organization for everything they’ve done for me from the moment I arrived here," said Barbagallo. "Coach Cerrella especially has been behind me since day one. I would also like to thank my parents and two sisters for being by my side throughout this process. I can’t thank my teammates enough on the Avs, for welcoming me and showing me the way right from the beginning. I couldn’t be happier to be joining the Brockport family this upcoming fall. I loved the campus and the business program is top-notch, it’s a perfect spot for me."
Barbagallo's top highlight to date came on February 8th against the Walpole Express, when he scored in three out of the four shootout attempts he took, leading his team to victory. Barbagallo and the Avalanche have just three regular season games remaining, as they continue to make their push for a First Round bye in the upcoming EHL Playoffs.
