The College at Brockport men's hockey team travels to Pennsylvania and
Maryland this weekend for non-conference action looking to extend its
two game winning streak when the Golden Eagles take on Lebanon Valley
Friday (7 p.m.) and Stevenson Saturday (4 p.m.).
Unbeaten Since New Year's: Brockport won a pair of one goal games at home last weekend as the Golden Eagles topped Neumann on Friday 5-4 and then defeated King's in overtime on Saturday by the same score. Brockport snapped a four game losing streak and improved to 7-6 overall on the season following the victories.
Coming Through When We Need It: Five of Brockport's seven wins this season have been by one goal. All five of those game-winning goals came in the third period of play or overtime. Two of the five game-winners came with less than a minute to play in regulation (Cortland & Neumann), while one of the winner's came in overtime (King's).
Last Time Out: Brockport picked up another close win at home on Saturday, defeating King's College 5-4 in overtime. Doc Gentzler proved to be the hero, burying the game-winner just 18 seconds into the overtime period. Mitchell Parsons and Jeremy Solat both found the back of the net twice in the contest. Gentzler finished with one goal and two assists, while Corey Tam came away with two assists. Ryan Romeo and Ethan Solat both contributed with an assist in the win.
In the National Spotlight: Doc Gentzler ranks in the top 50 nationally and sixth in the league with an average of .83 assists per game this season. He leads the team with 10 assists overall. Ryan Romeo ranks sixth nationally among blue-liners with an average of 1.08 points per contest. He also ranks eighth in the SUNYAC with 14 total points on five goals and nine assists. Romeo's 14 total points ranks second among SUNYAC defenders.
Scoring on the Power-Play: Gentzler and Connor Hutchins are tied for seventh in the conference with seven points each on the power-play this season. Anthony Hora is tied for sixth in the league with three power-play goals.
Our Goalie: Senior goalie Matt Schneider is tied for second in the league with six wins between the pipes this season. He now has 23 career victories and ranks second on the College's all-time list with a 2.88 career goals against average. He has started 11 games this season and has one shut out to go along with 244 saves and a 2.83 GAA.
Double Digit Scorers: Jordan Renaud and Connor Hutchins join Romeo and Gentzler as the top scorers for Brockport this season. Renaud has five goals and five assists, including two game-winners, while Hutchins has one goal and ranks second on the team with nine assists. Junior Danny Rock rounds out the top five scorers for the Golden Eagles with one goal and seven helpers.
