The College at Brockport men's hockey team picked up its 10th
win of the season on Friday night as the Golden Eagles topped host Anna
Maria College 3-1 in non-conference action. The Golden Eagles have now
won five straight games to start the new year, including three
consecutive on the road over the course of the last two weekends.
The contest featured three different goal scorers for the Golden Eagles as they improved to 10-6 overall on the season. Brockport snapped the AMCATS three game winning streak as their record fell to 9-4-3 on the season.
Connor Hutchins, Ethan Solat and Jake Colosanti each registered a goal for Brockport, while Jordan Renaud chipped in with a team-best two assists. Senior goalie Matt Schneider registered 21 saves on the evening to pick up his ninth win of the season.
After a scoreless first period of play that saw Brockport outshoot the home team 10-6, Connor Hutchins got the visitors on the scoreboard with his fourth goal of the season 4:11 into the second period to put the Golden Eagles on top 1-0. Anthony Hora and Jordan Renaud each registered an assist on the game's opening goal.
Ethan Solat then netted what proved to be the game-winner 6:30 later when he notched his fourth goal of the year at 10:41 of the second period to put Brockport on top 2-0. Jeremy Solat and Casey Winn assisted on the Golden Eagles' second goal of the afternoon.
The AMCATS netted a power-play goal midway through the third period of play, but the Golden Eagles answered to extend their lead back to two goals with 3:01 left in regulation. Jake Colosanti netted the third and final goal of the game for the visitors, his fifth of the year, off assists from Renaud and Danny Rock.
Brockport went 1-for-4 on the power-play, while Anna Maria posted a 1-for-2 effort on the power-play.
