EHL press release regarding Mendeszoon commitment

The New Hampshire Avalanche are pleased to announce that Jake Mendeszoon has committed to SUNY Brockport for the fall of 2020. The '99 native of Methuen, MA is in his second season with the Avalanche, and to date, he's tallied 47 points in 76 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

"Jake has been with us for two years, and with each month that passes he continues to improve," said EHL head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "This season so far he was a league all-star and has proven to be one of the top defensemen in the EHL. Mendy has earned it every step of the way and I could not be more proof of him. He is going to be a great addition to the Brockport hockey and academic family. We will miss him a lot next season, but we are happy to see him go. I want to wish nothing but the best of luck to Jake and his family!"

As Cerrella mentioned, Mendeszoon was part of the 2019 EHL All-Star Team that posted a 1-1-1 record against a trio of NCAA Division III opponents. That experience, along with be a minutes leader on one of the top teams in the EHL, has Mendeszoon prepped and ready for the next level.

"I want to thank everyone with the Avalanche organization for everything they’ve done the past two years to help me get to this point," said Mendeszoon. "Coach Cerrella and all my teammates have pushed me to become a better player and overall person as a whole. Brockport is a very good team that plays in arguably one of the best Division III conferences in the nation, so as an aspiring college hockey player it’s an easy decision to go there. The facilities are beautiful and they have my major of Computer Science, so it really is a perfect fit!"
