The College at Brockport hockey team hosted Morrisville State on
Saturday for the second matchup of the weekend. The visiting Mustangs
took the win over Brockport, 4-1, on the day.
The Green and Gold are now 3-1 overall and in SUNYAC play to start the season.
The first period of play was filled with scoring as both teams got on the board. Morrisville struck first with two goals to earn a 2-0 advantage with just over three minutes remaining in the period.
During a Golden Eagle power play, Jordan Renaud found the back of the net to make the score read 2-1. Connor Hutchins and Ryan Romeo were credited with assists on the goal. Brockport was 1-for-5 on power plays in the contest.
The Mustangs would add to their lead with goals in the second and third period, both coming during power play opportunities. Morrisville would end up securing a 4-1 final lead.
Brockport goaltender Matt Schneider made 10 saves in the game. Brockport outshot its opponent, 26-14, and won the face-off battle, 40-24.
