The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen the Men's Ice Hockey athletes of the week. The Goaltender of the Week is Brockport's Jake Moore (Arcade, N.Y. / Springfield Pics.) , the Rookie of the Week is Fredonia's Ethan Kirbis (Clarence, N.Y. / Buffalo Junior Sabres), and the Player of the Week is Geneseo's Conlan Keenan (Penfield, N.Y. / Jersey Hitmen).
Brockport's senior goaltender, Moore, anchored the team to a strong
3-1 win during the week. He made 33 saves and allowed only one goal in
their game against Hamilton. Moore is first in the SUNYAC with a .99
goals against average and a .962 save percentage. Brockport is now 4-0-1
with Moore in the net.
Kirbis was clutch for Fredonia during the week, he scored a
game-winning goal in both games that the Blue Devils played in. In the
first game against No. 3 Oswego, Kirbis delivered the game-winning goal
on his only shot of the game to give Fredonia the 3-2 win over their
SUNYAC rival. Kirbis had one assist and scored the game-winning goal
against Cortland as Fredonia was able to hold the Red Dragons off in the
third period to win 5-4.
Conlan Keenan tallied nine points in two games during the week for
the Knights as they went 2-0. In the first game Keenan was involved in
six out of the nine Geneseo goals, scoring a hat trick and adding three
assists. Geneseo went on to beat Morrisville, 9-0. In the second game,
also against Morrisville, Keenan scored one goal and added two assists
to help Geneseo to a 7-1 win. He currently leads the nation with 19
points and is tied for second with 12 assists.
