The College at Brockport men's ice hockey team defeated Anna Maria
College Friday evening, by a score of 5-1. With the win, the Golden
Eagles move to (6-1-1) on the season and advance to the championship
game of the Catamount Radio Invitational.
The Golden Eagles dominated the game Friday night, outshooting their opponent 38-18.
The Green and Gold found the back of the net less than ten minutes into the first period after an Amcats player took a two-minute hitting from behind penalty that sent Brockport to the powerplay. The first goal of the game came from the blue line, as defenseman Corey Tam fired a shot past the Anna Maria goalkeeper with assists from Ryan Romeo and Mitchell Parsons. The Golden Eagles headed to the locker room with the lead, 1-0.
The Golden Eagles wasted little time in the second, extending their lead to two seven and a half minutes into the period, senior Connor Bass buried his first of the year with assists from Mitchell Parsons and Chris Pollini. Seven minutes after the goal the Golden Eagles found themselves on the powerplay. It only took a minute into the PP for the Golden Eagles to extend their lead, freshman Kyle Collette buried his second goal of the season on the power play with assists from Tam and Romeo.
The third period saw more of the same from the Green and Gold as Jeremy Solat scored the fourth goal of the night two minutes and forty seconds into the period. The Amcats responded quickly following the Brockport goal, scoring their first of the night two minutes later, cutting the lead to three. The Golden Eagles put the final nail in the coffin 40 seconds after the Amcats goal as Mitchell Parsons beat the opposition's netminder with assists from Collette and Connor Hutchins. Brockport's sophomore goalkeeper Sean Lincoln posted 17 saves in his first collegiate win.
