The College at Brockport ice hockey team dropped a conference matchup
against Geneseo in Tuttle North Ice Arena on Friday night by a score of
5-2. The Golden Eagles now sit at 9-11-1 on the season and 5-7-0 in the
SUNYAC conference.
Aidan Verbeke picked up right where he left off last weekend early in the first period, when he notched the first goal of the game 8:49 into the contest to give Brockport a 1-0 lead. Dylan Shapiro and Connor Bass both recorded assists on the Verbeke goal.
Geneseo's Devin Brink scored his first of three goals five minutes later to knot the score at 1-1, which would hold up through the end of the period.
Geneseo's Pat Condon scored the lone goal of the second period, giving the Knight's a 2-1 lead heading into the third. Jake Moore made nine saves in the stanza, including a few clutch pad saves with time winding down to keep the Golden Eagles in the game.
Sixth ranked Geneseo would blow the game open in the third, scoring three more times, two of which came from Brink to give the freshman a hat trick.
Zac Sikich was able to net his eighth goal of the season at the 14:29 mark of the third, with the defensive pairing of Bryan Carville and Rob Hall each providing assists on the goal.
Moore ended the night with 23 saves while allowing four goals for an .851 save percentage.
