BROCKPORT SUFFERS TOUGH LOSS TO HOBART

The College at Brockport ice hockey team gave seven unanswered goals as they fell to Hobart College Saturday night by a score of 9-2.

Brockport (6-7-2 overall, 3-4-2 SUNYAC) started the scoring six minutes into the game as rookie Tim Kielich scored his seventh goal of the season.  Chase Nieuwendyk and Ryan Kangas each picked up an assist on the goal.  Hobart (10-2-2, 5-1-0 ECAC West) answered back two goals to take an early 2-1 lead.

The Golden Eagles found themselves with a man advantage at the 16:38 mark of the first period.  Unable to find an open man, Chris Luker fired a shot from the left point just as the penalty expired to know the game up at two.  Nick Palumbo and James Ryan were each credited with an assist as the teams took a 2-2 tie to the first intermission.

Hobart scored four goals in the second and two more in the third to hand Brockport the loss.  Brockport's offense struggled as they were outshot 49-21 but were able to beat the Herons in the face off circle 44-39.  Jared Lockhurst stopped 40 shots in his fifth loss of the season.

The Golden Eagles return home next Saturday to host Nazareth College with face off set for 7 p.m.
