BROCKPORT TO PLAY TUFTS ON FRIDAY

NOTE: The games have been rescheduled to Friday and Saturday

While many Brockport students are gone home for the long holiday weekend, the hockey team will be taking to the ice instead. They are traveling to Castleton State in Vermont to participate in the Rutland Herald Invitational.

The other 3 teams in this year’s tourney are Castleton, Manhanttanville, and Tufts.

Brockport plays Tufts at 3:45 Friday. The winner goes on to Saturday’s championship game while the loser participates in Saturday’s consolation game.

The Tufts Jumbos are 1-3-1 on the season.

Although their most recent game was a shutout against Becker, they have allowed 23 goals on the season in their 4 other games. That should be music to Brockport’s ears as the Golden Eagles’ high-powered offense is just finding its stride (last weekend alone Jake Taylor had 3 goals).

Goals have been hard for them to come by for Tufts, but it’s not for lack of trying. Brian Brown is Tufts’ leading offensive force with 2 goals. 9 other players each have one goal. Last year, no one on the roster surpassed 13 points.

Mason Pulde has seen the majority of the time in net and has been pummeled with 131 shots in 4 games. As a side note, it should be noted that Mason is a high-character kid who helped bring sled hockey to Nobels, the boarding school he attended as a teen, to help the disabled pursue the best sport on Earth.
