Sophomore Shane Cavalieri
(Richmond Hill, ONT) scored the lone goals as The College at Brockport
men's ice hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision on the road in a State
University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game against Geneseo
on Saturday evening.
Geneseo took control early in the first period, scoring a goal just 6:32 seconds into the game. The Knights added another goal less than two minutes later to take a two goal lead.
Cavalieri netted his goal at 12:03 to cut the Geneseo lead to one. Troy Polino (Limerick, PA) and Jeremy DeFazio (Oakville, ONT) were recorded assists.
However, the Knights turned around and pushed their lead out to two goals again with a goal nearing the end of period one.
The second period was quiet as neither team managed to add any goals. Despite outshooting Geneseo 12-8 during the period, Brockport could not find the finish they needed.
The Knights opened up the third period with a quick goal, the final of the game. The Golden Eagles continued to struggle to find the back of the net.
Goalie Jared Lockhurst (Caledon, ONT) finished the game with 30 saves.
