BROCKPORT FALLS TO 4th RANKED PLATTSBURGH

The College at Brockport Hockey team dropped a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest to No. 4 Plattsburgh on Saturday night, falling 3-0 at Tuttle North Ice Arena. The Golden Eagles are now 3-3 in the SUNYAC while Plattsburgh improves to 5-1.

Brockport allowed a late first period goal to the Cardinals, ranked No. 4 in the latest USCHO.com polls. Plattsburgh tacked on one goal in the second and finished off the game with a third period score. Aaron Green (Mt. Albert, ONT/St.  Michaels Buzzers) stopped 28 shots in net for the Golden Eagles as the sophomore falls to 1-2 on the season. The Golden Eagles failed to score for the first time in five games after averaging almost four goals a game in their last four contests.

Brockport kept the Plattsburgh defense on its heels in the first 20 minutes as Brockport controlled the puck in the Cardinals' zone but were unable to score. Plattsburgh netted its first goal with just 1:20 remaining in the first period to take an early lead.

Plattsburgh took the 2-0 lead at the 7:46 mark of the second period, converting on the power play opportunity. Seven minutes into the third period the Cardinals scored their final goal to complete the shutout.

Brockport kept with the Cardinals in shots throughout the game as Plattsburgh held a narrow 31-29 shots advantage. The Golden Eagles failed to score on each of their six power play opportunities in the game. Bobby Conner (Lititz, PA/Philadelphia Junior Flyers) led the Golden Eagles with four shots on goal on the night.

Brockport will take a break from conference play as the Golden Eagles head to Vermont to take part in the Rutland Herald Invitational hosted by Castleton State. The Golden Eagles will take on Castleton on Nov. 24 followed by a match against either Tufts or Manhattanville on Nov. 25.
