Junior defenseman Chris Luker (New Hartford, NY) has been named The
College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending
January 26. Luker helped the Golden Eagles split a weekend State
University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup against
Morrisville with his playmaking ability.
Brockport (9-7-1 Overall, 4-4-1 SUNYAC) exuded great energy against Morrisville on Jan. 23, and the Golden Eagles offense was connecting on all cylinders. Luker was able to set up several goals in the game as Brockport clinched its fourth SUNYAC win of the year, defeating the Mustangs 7-3. Luker recorded all four of his assists in the third period while Brockport exploded offensively and took a commanding lead on the game.
In the second game of the weekend series against Morrisville, Brockport allowed an early goal but responded shortly after. The Mustangs committed a penalty at the 12:48 marker, giving Brockport the man advantage. The Golden Eagles responded by tying the game one minute later. Luker passed the puck to his Golden Eagle teammate who then rifled it past the Mustangs goalie, giving Luker his fifth assist of the weekend. Brockport fell to Morrisville in the second game 3-1.
