Last Outing: The Golden Eagles erased a 2-0 third-period deficit to
defeat Elmira on the road, 5-2, on Saturday, January 10th. The Golden
Eagles improved to 5-8 overall and 3-2-1 in UCHC play following the win.
Matthew Lee paced the Brockport offensive attack, scoring two goals to fuel the Brockport comeback, finishing with a +2 rating.
Eight different Golden Eagles finished with a point or better in a true
team win. Brockport fared well in the faceoff circle (38-69), with Sacha Trudel leading the way (10-4).
Ethan Seibert, Livio Azevedo, and Jackson Faughnan led the shot blocking efforts for Brockport, all blocking two shots each.
Athlete of the Week: Sweeping both the Empire 8 and UCHC Goaltender of the Week awards, David Filak
provided an excellent outing in Brockport's comeback win over
Elmira. Despite allowing two goals across his first 12 shots faced,
Filak would recover to ignite a Brockport comeback. The junior from
Northville, MI would stop 18 straight shots, posting a scoreless final
36:16 of the contest to earn his fourth win of the season. Filak
finished the evening with 29 saves, stopping 93.5% of the shots he
faced, and posting 25+ saves for the sixth straight game.
Filak is in the midst of his best season with the Green and Gold,
already surpassing his total wins from 2024-25 (3), and posting a
single-game career high in saves (48) against Utica back on November
15th. He leads Brockport goaltenders in saves (233), ranking second in
the UCHC conference in saves per game (33.29).
Home Away From Home: Across the squad's last three road contests, the
Golden Eagles have rattled off three straight wins, outscoring their
opponents 13-6 over that stretch. Brockport picked up six conference
points with two wins at Elmira, also defeating Lebanon Valley in Vermont
back on November 29th. The Green and Gold will look to stay hot in
conference play, winning three straight UCHHC contests entering the
weekend.
Scouting St. John Fisher: The Cardinals will enter Friday's contest with
an 8-6 record and a 2-4 mark in UCHC play as first-year members.
Brockport will look to bounce back from a 4-2 non-conference loss
against the Cardinals back in November.
