On Monday, January 12th the Empire 8 and UCHC conferences announced their selections for Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week. David Filak
was named the Empire 8 and UCHC Goaltender of the Week following a
excellent bounce back performance in Brockport's 5-2 win over Elmira
last Saturday.
Despite allowing two goals across his first 12 shots faced, Filak would
recover to ignite a Brockport comeback. The junior from Northville, MI
would stop 18 straight shots, posting a scoreless final 36:16 of the
contest to earn his fourth win of the season. Filak finished the evening
with 29 saves, stopping 93.5% of the shots he faced, and posting 25+
saves for the sixth straight game.
Filak is in the midst of his best season with the Green and Gold,
already surpassing his total wins from 2024-25 (3), and posting a
single-game career high in saves (48) against Utica back on November
15th. He leads Brockport goaltenders in saves (233), ranking second in
the UCHC conference in saves per game (33.29).
