ice hockey begins its quest for its 24th conference title on Wednesday
night at the Tuttle North Ice Arena, as the Cardinals face No. 4 seed
The College at Brockport at 7 p.m. in the first round of the State
University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament.
TICKET PRICING: Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 5-12. Children ages four and under are admitted free of charge. Students from SUNYAC schools with valid identification will be admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased at Tuttle North Ice Arena prior to the game.
ABOUT THE SERIES: In a series that dates back to 1975-76, the Cardinals are 82-8-5 all-time against the Golden Eagles. Plattsburgh State went 0-2-0 against Brockport during the regular season this year. The Cardinals lost at home, 3-1, on Friday, Nov. 1, and on the road, 4-1, on Friday, Jan. 24. This game is a rematch of last year's SUNYAC Tournament first round when Plattsburgh State won, 3-1, on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.

Senior forward and alternate captain Joe Drabin (Rochester, N.Y./Wenatchee Wild) leads the Cardinals in both assists (15) and points (23). Freshman forward Adam Tretowicz (Baldwinsville, N.Y./ Buffalo Jr. Sabres) is pacing the team in goals (9), while ranking second behind Drabin in points (18). On defense, sophomore Matt Araujo (Brookhaven, N.Y./Boston Jr. Rangers) has tallied four goals and nine assists for 13 points, while freshman Christian Dahl (St. Peters, Mo./Topeka Pilots) has recorded three goals and seven assists for 10 points. In goal, junior Jimmy Poreda (Tonawanda, N.Y./Connecticut Jr. Rangers) has played to a 9-9-3 record with 562 saves, a .908 save percentage and a 2.71 goals against average on the season. Poreda has been named the PrestoSports SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week four times in 2019-20. The Cardinals are led on the bench by first-year head coach Steve Moffat.

The Golden Eagles' 15 wins is equal to their win total from the 2018-19 season when they won their most games in a season since 1987-88. Junior Ryan Romeo is an offensive threat from the blue line as he leads the Golden Eagles in goals (10) and points (26), while tying with senior forward Connor Hutchins for the team lead in assists (16). Hutchins has also added five goals and is second on the team with 21 points. Brockport has 10 skaters on its roster with double-digit point totals this season. In goal, Matt Schneider has played to a 13-8-1 record with 510 saves, a .898 save percentage and a 2.68 goals against average. Head coach Brian Dickinson is in his 23rd year at Brockport and is in his 26th season overall as a head coach. He has a career overall record of 225-381-59.
