The College at Brockport Hockey team came from behind with two goals late in the second period and the only goal in the third period for a 4-3 victory over Manhattanville Saturday night in the championship game of the Rutland Herald Invitational Tournament in Rutland, VT.

Brockport (4-5-1) fell behind early as Manhattanville (3-4-1) scored in the first two minutes of the game and then took a 2-0 lead at the 10:50 mark in the period.

Junior Chase Nieuwendyk (Georgetown, ONT) scored his third goal of the tournament to cut the lead in half two minutes later with a power play goal set up by Zac Sikich (Oak Park, CA) and Ryan Kangas (Williamstown, MA).

Manhattanville regained the two-goal lead midway through the second period before Brockport came charging back.

Nieuwendyk set up the second Brockport goal with an assist on a goal by Bobby Chayka (Hardwick, NJ) to cut the lead to 3-2.

Less than three minutes later, Troy Polino (Limerick, PA) knotted the game at 3-3 with assists from Kangas and Jeremy DeFazio (Oakville, ONT) and the teams went into the third period with a tie score.

Both teams were aggressive offensively in the third period and both goalies came up with big saves but Andrew Parks (Orillia, ONT) broke the tie with his first goal of the season with assists from Chris Luker (New Hartford, NY) and Dylan Shapiro (Rochester, NY) at the 10:35 mark of the period.

Manhattanville pressured down the stretch in an attempt to tie the score but Aaron Green (Mt. Albert, ONT) came up with save after save finishing the period with 12 of his 26 total saves in the period.

Nieuwendyk was named the tournament's most valuable player while Luker and Green were selected to the All-Tournament team.
