The Sports Information Department produced this recap of last night's nailbiter...

Freshman forward Troy Polino (Limerick, PA) scored a goal late in the third period to bring The College at Brockport Men's Hockey team to within one goal, but fell short to No. 8 Neumann University 3-2 on Friday night at Tuttle North Ice Arena. The loss snaps the Golden Eagles three-game winning streak.

Brockport was playing its' second top-10 opponent in as many games, including a 4-3 overtime victory over then-No. 5 Elmira College on Dec. 9. Neumann held a 3-1 advantage in the third period before Polino scored a powerplay goal with 57 seconds to play.

Brockport's first goal came in the second period with 5:13 to play as Nick Panepinto (Tonawanda, NY) scored his third goal of the season on an assist from Adam Shoff (Port Dover, ONT) and Ian Finnerty (Ardmore, PA). The Golden Eagles were trailing 2-0 before Shoff passed the puck towards the net and Panepinto knocked the air-bound pass into the net for a powerplay goal.

Neumann tacked on its' third goal just 1:34 into the final period. The score remained that way until Brockport pulled goalie Aaron Green (Mt. Albert, ONT) with one minute remaining to send on an extra skater. With two Neumann skaters and one Brockport player in the penalty box, the Golden Eagles took advantage of six offensive players as Polino put home the powerplay goal. Shoff was credited with his second assist and Bobby Chayka (Hardwick, NJ) netted his second assist of the season. The Golden Eagles battled for possession in the final 50 seconds, but could not find the equalizer.

Green, making just his third start in his young career, made a career-high 31 saves. Green was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week following his performance against Elmira. The Golden Eagles are now 4-7-2 overall and will travel to Hobart tomorrow to take on the Statesmen at 4 pm.
