Brockport to host LVC

The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team is set to host visiting Lebanon Valley this Saturday, January 15th at 2 p.m. in the Tuttle North Ice Arena.
 
Weekend Recap: The Golden Eagles (9-5) recently defeated visiting Stevenson (9-4-1) on Saturday by a score of 5-1. Brockport's Zach NorbyRyan Romeo and Sam Dibitetto all recorded a goal in the game with freshman Jacob King scoring twice in the contest. Aidan Curry was Brockport netminder against the Mustangs as he managed to play nearly 60-minutes of shutout hockey to pick up his second win of the season. Curry's play came as the result of saving a career high 35 total shots.
 
So far this season the Golden Eagles currently rank first in the SUNYAC in power-play opportunities (79), 14 more than any other team in the conference. Of their power-play opportunities, the Golden Eagles have capitalized with a power-play goal 21.5% of the time.
 
Individual National Rankings: Team Co-Captain Ryan Romeo has been playing as one of the best defenders this season not only in the conference, but in the nation across division III men's ice hockey. Through 14 games this season, Romeo is currently ranked first amongst defenders in points (23), tied for first amongst defenders in assists (15) and ranked second in the country amongst all skaters with his 23 points. As for his career, Romeo currently sits at 73 career points and is two shy away from ¾ of 100 points. Sitting where he is now in goals and points, he ended the 2019-2020 season with six goals and 10 assists and has already surpassed his previous seasons stats with 11 games remaining in the season. Other top points leaders in the nation from Brockport include freshman Jacob King who is tied for 21st (9-9-18) and freshman Andrew Harley who is tied for 38th (5-11-16).
 
Brockport has been backed up by phenomenal goaltending as Nolan Egbert ranks tied fourth in the nation in shutouts (2), ninth in the nation in save percentage (0.940%), 12th in the nation in goals against average (1.72%) and 21st in the nation in minutes played (594.21).
 
Looking at Lebanon Valley: The Flying Dutchmen are currently 2-9 overall and 1-7 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC). Lebanon Valley's most recent game was played back on December 10th against Elmira College where they lost 10-0. Prior to traveling to Brockport on Saturday, the Flying Dutchman will faceoff against No.2 SUNY Geneseo Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. leading the team's offense in points is Blake Testo who's recorded 13 points on a team leading seven goals and six assists. Leading the team in assists this season is Alex Borowiec with 10. Gabriel Pigeon has spent the most time in net for Lebanon Valley appearing in nine games recording a total of 369.05 minutes allowing 28 goals and making 169 saves. He has a goals against average of 4.55% and save percentage of .858%.
 
Following Events: Following this weekend's game, The Golden Eagles will resume SUNYAC play where they will travel to Morrisville State on Wednesday, January 19th for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
