Skidmore topples Brockport

The College at Brockport hockey team is at Skidmore College this weekend to compete in the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational. Brockport fell to the host team Skidmore, 2-5, on day one of competition.

The Golden Eagles struck first with a goal in the first six minutes of play. Danny Rock scored the goal to give the team a 1-0, with Hunter Laslo and Chris Pollini assisting. Skidmore would have a strong response for the remainder of the period, going up 3-1 before the first intermission.

Ryan Romeo would cut the lead down to just one goal with a score in the second period to make the scoreboard read 3-2. Jordan Renaud and Doc Gentzler were credited with the help, as Brockport closed the gap with the power play goal. However, two more goals in the third period for Skidmore would seal the deal for the 5-2 win on Saturday.

The Green and Gold outshot Skidmore 33-28 in the loss, as the team is now 5-4 overall on the year. Sean Lincoln made his first start of the season in net for Brockport, making 23 saves in his debut.

The Golden Eagles will play in the Consolation Game on Sunday, against the losing team between Buffalo State and Tufts. The puck will drop at 1 pm tomorrow to conclude the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational.
