Brockport does a WNY split this weekend

The Brockport men's ice hockey team (4-2) will head to Fredonia (1-3-1) this Friday for a 7 pm bout. The team will then matchup with Buffalo St. (2-2) at home Saturday at 4 pm.

Meet the Players: The Brockport hockey team will be signing team pictures on the ice following Saturday's game against Buffalo State. This Past Weekend: The Golden Eagles fought hard their last time out, picking up a win against Cortland after a loss to the third ranked team in the country, Oswego. Brockport fell, 4-1, on the road to Oswego on Friday as the Lakers scored three goals in the second period. Saturday was a different story seeing the Green and Gold control the majority of the game. The game winning goal from Jordan Renaud came with just .4 seconds left in regulation. Connor Hutchins and Ryan Romeo assisted on the score that captured the 2-1 victory. Goaltender Matt Schneider bagged 46 total saves through both games.

Team Leaders: Doc Gentzler, Connor Hutchins and Ryan Romeo lead the team, each with seven points on the season. The trio are currently tied for seventh in the SUNYAC in points. Hutchins and Romeo are also tied for third in the conference with six assists a piece. Anthony Hora is one of just three players in the SUNYAC with two game-winning goals. Hora is also tied for third with three powerplay goals.

Schneider's Milestone: Senior goaltender Matt Schneider is the lone protector of the net to step on the ice this season for Brockport. With his 46 saves in the pair of games last weekend, Schneider has now surpassed the 1,000 saves mark for his career. He now has a total of 1,040 stops to his credit, as one of just two goalies in the SUNYAC to start all six games for their team.

Fredonia's Shaky Start: The Blue Devils are 1-3-1 overall and 0-3-1 so far in conference play. The team's lone win came against Chatham, with a score of 7-2. Junior Victor Tracy leads Fredonia with six total points, mainly coming from his five assists. Ryan Dunner is the team's top goal scorer, with three goals on the year. Fredonia most recently fell to Potsdam, 1-0, on the road and is hoping to get its first win at home against Brockport on Friday.

Buffalo State: The Bengals have a .500 record so far this season with their record standing at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC. The two wins for the team came against Potsdam, 6-3, and a 2-1 overtime thriller over Nichols. Buffalo State is led by two senior forwards, Zach Remers and Jon Colley who both have three points. The team's penalty kill squad has been the real back bone for the team, killing 12 of 15 penalties.
