BROCKPORT GETS FIRST HOME LOSS OF SEASON

The College at Brockport ice hockey team fell to Elmira College by a score of 4-3 Friday night in a non-conference game.  Elmira (7-5 overall, 2-4 ECAC West) scored with less than four minutes remaining to hand Brockport (6-6-2, 3-4-2 SUNYAC) its first home loss of the season.

made his collegiate debut in net for the Golden Eagles and stopped 26 shots including 12 in the second period.  The freshmen held Elmira scoreless on three power play opportunities.

Brockport found themselves in an early deficit as Elmira scored just over two minutes into the game.  Two unanswered goals from the Green and Gold gave them a 2-1 lead entering the first intermission.

Brockport's first goal of the game came from Chase Nieuwendyk who tipped in a shot from defensemen Chris Luker at the 8:48 mark.  Five minutes later Dylan Shapiro and Zac Sikich each picked up an assist on a goal from Aidan Verbeke.

Two Elmira goals in the second period made the score 3-2 entering the final period of play.  Rookie Tim Kielich netted the equalizer less than four minutes in after receiving a pass from Nieuwendyk.  Nick Palumbo also picked up an assist on the goal.

After nearly ten minutes of scoreless play, the Soaring Eagles took advantage of a breakaway to net the game winner with less than four minutes remaining in the game.

Brockport outshot Elmira 39-30.  Nieuwendyk led all skaters with eight shot followed by Rob Hall and James Ryan who had five shots each.  In the face off circle, Brockport won 32 of 68 while Andrew Parks was 7-4.

The Golden Eagles will head to Geneva, N.Y. Saturday night to face off against Hobart College at 7 p.m
