GENESEO BEATS BROCKPORT, 2-0

The College at Brockport Hockey team suffered its fifth straight loss as the Golden Eagles fell to Geneseo 2-0 on Friday night. Brockport is now 3-9-1 overall and 3-5-0 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.

Geneseo got on the board first with a late first period goal that proved to be the game-winner. The Knights tacked on a second goal on a power play with just over five minutes left in the second period to take the conference victory. After losing three in a row, Geneseo has won its last four and improves to 7-4-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the SUNYAC.

Aaron Green (Mt. Albert, ONT/St. Michaels Buzzers) took the loss for the Golden Eagles. The sophomore stopped 30 shots on the night. The Golden Eagles were outshot 32-28 on the night.

Brockport had an opportunity to get ahead of the Knights late in the first period. With just over five minutes left in the first session, Mike Hayward (Toronto, ONT/Vaughan Vipers) had an open net shot but Geneseo goalie Bryan Haude made a diving save across the crease to keep the game scoreless. The Knights buried their first goal three minutes later to go up 1-0.

After a Brockport penalty early in the second period, Geneseo took advantage of the power play and scored its second goal. The Golden Eagles staged a comeback with a fury of shots in the third period but to no avail as the Knights moved up in the conference standings.

Brockport will take on Western New England on Saturday for a nonconference game. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
