The Bobcats are proud to announce that forward, Troy Polino, has committed to the Golden Eagles of Brockport State College for the 2011/2012 season. Troy will be joining former Bobcats, Danny Galiani, Chris Cangro, Stephen Sachman and Joe Reagan, all of whom played for the Golden Eagles this past college season. Brockport is a member of the SUNYAC Conference, which is arguably the strongest Division III Conference in the United States. Troy becomes the third player from this year’s New York Bobcats to receive a commitment to play collegiate hockey.
Known for his strong shooting skills, goal scoring ability, and tenacious play, Troy was the Bobcats 7thleading scorer among all players this past season with a 21-21-42 line in 53 games. His 21 goals were also good for 4thoverall on the team. After joining the Bobcats late last season, Troy made an immediate impact, scoring 13 points in 15 games. Over his 68 game career with the Bobcats, he scored a total of 55 points and posted an impressive +33 plus/minus rating. He also showed a knack for the big moment with 6 game winning goals over that span. As one of the team’s key offensive players, Troy has been an instrumental player in the Bobcats’ success the past two seasons.
By way of background, Troy finished 20thin the MJHL in league scoring during the 2008/09 campaign. In addition to participating in the Keystone Games in 2009, he also earned a spot at the USA National 14 and 15 Festivals in 2004 and 2005, respectively. A highly successful high school hockey player, Troy was a member of the Spring Ford High School ICSHL Varsity Champions. He was an ICSHL Varsity All-Star in 2007 and 2008 and was the MVP of the Spring Ford High School Varsity team three consecutive years from 2006 through 2008. His most notable youth hockey accomplishment was playing for the New Jersey Rockets team that won the Bantam Minor Atlantic District Championship in 2004
